To no one’s surprise, we met on the infamous Brick Street Bar dance floor during one of our first nights on campus freshman year at Miami University (August, 2016). Classes hadn't started yet, and Gordie’s roommate was talking to one of Kirsten’s new dormmates. Naturally, both of our groups decided to enjoy a night on the town at “Brick.” While we’re both sure our show‑stopping dance moves would have immediately attracted us to each other, we instantly connected. We spent the night talking about our hometowns, sports, and eventually found ourselves in a spirited debate over whether Gordie could outrun Keeks as the former track captain at Tonka (one we still haven’t settled to this day)! Gordie left an impression that night, with Kirsten confidently stating, “Gordie is going to be my best friend!” While half right, she fully intended to keep him in the friend zone. Our friendship and fondness only grew over the next two semesters. We went on countless ice cream runs, and Gordie even surprised Kirsten on their first official date with tickets to a Chainsmokers concert! By the time summer rolled around, we were already dating. Fast forward ten years… and here we are now, getting married! Gordie proposed in Slovakia, and it was such a special day filled with surprises and fun for both of us. Over the last ten years, we’ve made lifelong memories and friends in all the places we’ve called home, spanning five countries and three states, mainly thanks to Gordie's professional hockey career. If you asked our much‑younger 2016 selves about our future, the only surprise would be that we aren't already married yet. Because when you meet the person you’re meant to be with, you just know — and we have always chosen each other. We cannot wait to celebrate this milestone with you in June, and end the night where it all started... on the dance floor. :)
