Catherine and Kevin first met in August 2014 on the first day of classes at Emory University. Kevin, completing his cross-campus journey to Spanish, noticed Catherine the second he laid eyes on her. She was so beautiful that he listened to every word she said. He found out that Catherine was an ambitious premed student from New Jersey. Catherine and Kevin grew closer as friends as they grabbed lunch after Spanish class 3 times a week. One day, after a long day of studying, Catherine and Kevin decided to have dinner together at Tin Lizzy's, the local tex-mex restaurant. As they were returning back from dinner, it started to pour. Despite this rain, Catherine was very sure in her ability to walk backwards over Emory's biology bridge. Kevin, concerned that she would fall, grabbed her hands so she wouldn't slip, and to his surprise, she didn't let go. They both returned home safely that night, thinking about what a great evening they had, despite being soaked. Valentine's Day and Catherine's birthday was coming up around this time so Kevin decided to take Catherine to an all-you-can-eat Brazilian Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao. Romantic. The night ended with a ferris wheel ride and a question: "What do you think this shirt made out of? Boyfriend material." Kevin and Catherine have been a couple ever since that day in February 2015. The rest of undergrad consisted of Dooley's Week Celebrations, late-nights study sessions (Catherine was Kevin's TA at one point), food runs to Buford Highway, and eventually applying to medical school. During medical school, Catherine and Kevin spent 4 years doing long-distance, taking flights to and from Cleveland, OH and Augusta, GA. They would finally come together again in NYC when Catherine matched into Ophthalmology residency at NYU, and Kevin matched into Anesthesiology residency at Albert Einstein/ Montefiore, supporting each other through the grueling hours and work of residency. In their third year of residency, Catherine and Kevin took a trip to Switzerland together, saw the filming locations of Crash Landing on You, and started planning their lives as one as Kevin dropped the ring by the water of Lake Brienz while proposing. All of this has culminated over the past 11 years, and they are very excited to celebrate with everyone on April 11, 2026.
