A long story told short

Casey and I have known each other since middle school and graduated from Mead High School in the same class in 2017. While we had mutual friends and hung out together a few times, that was about it. It was not until years later, at the beginning COVID pandemic, that we reconnected again. Casey was serving in Poland on a 9-month deployment when he decided to reach out to me via Instagram. I was back living in Spokane at this point finishing my degree online from Washington State University. I was definitely surprised to hear from him but interested to hear what he had been up to. Many video calls and phone calls soon turned to trips back and forth between Spokane and Georgia. The long-distance was tough, but we always made our trips worth it by packing in as many things as we could. I grew pretty fond of Savannah and looked forward to each visit and spending time with Casey. We tied the knot in December of 2021 (see picture below) and then decided to plan a wedding reception in Spokane the following December to celebrate our marriage with family & friends. I moved to Georgia that February of 2022 where Casey and I got a cat named Boozie. I was able to keep my position as a remote employee and worked from home full-time. We made some great friends in Savannah and enjoyed the nightlife. As military life goes, we saw many friends move away and knew we would move at some point too. Casey received his orders to Hawaii in June 2022 with a report date of November 2022. While this was all very exciting, we knew that this was going to be a very stressful move. It was around July that we officially made the decision to not go through with planning a wedding reception because we weren't sure of Casey’s schedule or rotations. After months of packing, and living in hotels, and Airbnbs, we are now finally settled in Pearl City, HI in our first home together! We love the sunshine, snorkeling, and hiking. We already have many people scheduled to come visit and we are so excited to show them around our new home. Casey is a Sergeant currently working in the Medical Evacuation Unit as a Crew Chief and mechanic for 15 helicopters. I started a new remote job at Gonzaga University in January 2023 as an Academic Operations Specialist for the Department of Nursing.
