Troy and Kav first met at a pool party with classmates at the start of medical school. A small group organized to go skydiving the following weekend, and Troy and Kav were two of the thrill seekers. It wasn't what you think, however, as Troy was dating someone at the time and Kav brought a date with her to the outing.

As time went on, both Troy and Kav became single. The two continued to get to know each other along with their peers. They enjoyed bantering with each other and spent hours coming up with the most cringy of medical puns. They had no intention on dating as Troy wanted to stay single and Kav had no intentions of dating a fellow med student; she wanted someone to balance her. The two discovered they both loved ice cream and planned occasional "non-dates" to various ice cream shops in the area. Strictly friends.

Many ice cream non-dates later where the two would ask about the others prospects, the timeline Troy had in mind to stay single grew shorter. He asked Kav on their first official date where they went to the beach for sunset and had burritos. No label yet, but the two went as Peter Pan and Tinker Bell (not Wendy) to a Halloween party. As they traveled home for the holidays, their hearts grew fonder of each other. They planned to reunite for New Years on a trip with Troy's friend Adam to Boone, NC.

They rang in the New Year and Troy brought Kav home to Mount Dora, FL before they planned to head back to medical school. It was after introducing Kav to his family that the two decided they were official. They have not looked back since.
