This is our all time favorite restaurant in the area; you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We are particularly fond of the tuna nachos, salmon and fish specials. Their lunchtime salad's coupled with the fish of the day is outstanding. It's a relatively small restaurant so you want to make your reservations well in advance. When making a reservation you should always book a table indoors. If you plan to eat outside and the weather doesn't cooperate, you are SOL. If you make your reservation for indoors and the weather cooperates, you can always opt to eat outside based on availability. If you are looking for a cocktail you should know that they only serve beer and wine.
A relatively new restaurant in downtown Stuart, Hudson's has a fun, casual atmosphere with great outdoor seating on the river. They are known for their duck preparations but I love the pepper crusted tuna salad and the mussels in coconut curry broth.
South Fork is another favorite of ours that's a bit of a hike from the hotel but worth the drive. Again, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have one of the best burgers in town and we personally love the brussel sprout & kale salad, miso glazed salmon, and the seared scallops. The restaurant can be very noisy but you do have the option of dining outside as long as you don't mind a view of the parking lot (very common in South Florida)!
Kyle G's, known for their prime steak and seafood, boasts one of the best outdoor dining spots in the area with a spectacular view of the ocean, daily live entertainment, and it's just minutes from the hotel. Whether dining inside off the main menu, or dining oceanside on the deck, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Know that when you dine oceanside you can also order from the main menu but when dining inside, the main menu is it. This is normally a lunch spot for us so we opt to eat oceanside so we can enjoy the music. Some of our favorite's include the kale salad, guacamole and chips, ahi tuna nachos, fish tacos and filet sliders.
This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa where most of you are staying. The interior has a coastal vibe but we also enjoy dining beach/poolside. Specializing in seafood and Italian cuisine, we love their pizza's, sandwiches (short rib grilled cheese) and pastas. The restaurant is how we came to book the hotel for our wedding. They also provide all-day room service.
District Table is a casual, farm to table restaurant utilizing local farmers and fisherman to create their New American/Southern style cuisine.. If you are into southern cooking you'll love their deviled eggs, peach salad (in season), watermelon radish carpaccio and the sweet tea fried chicken. With its cement floor you are best to make reservations for outside as it can get very noisy. If you arrive early, you might enjoy grabbing a drink at the bar and heading out to the fire pit to relax until your table is ready. They often have live music outside where you can listen to and enjoy some of the local talent.
In John's opinion, Claretta's is the best Italian restaurant in the area. It is located in a strip mail quite a poke from the hotel but worth the drive. Owned by a brother and sister from Northern Italy (and named after their mother), chef Francesco runs the kitchen and Christina manages the front of the restaurant. With an extensive menu, we enjoy their homemade pastas and the tuscan steak.
Located in a strip mall not far from the hotel, Renato's is a family owned restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to the traditional red sauce and pasta dishes they are famous for you can also get a great steak and pizza.
An awesome new sport in Downton Stuart that also offers gluten free and vegan cuisine. The smoked brisket and banging grilled cheese sandwiches are to dye for. Not open for dinner yet, makes it a great lunch, social hour or Sunday brunch option. It also hosts a small market where you can shop for your local favorites like honey, fruits and veggies, peanut butter and ice cream.
Shuckers is located in a local hotel right on the beach where bathing suits, t-shirts and flip flops are always welcome. In Jensen Beach not far from the Hutchinson Island Resort & Spa, it is your typical tiki hut, beachside bar and restaurant with live music. This is an economical alternative to Kyle G's.
John and I have never been but our friends say it's worth a visit.
Approximately 30 minutes north of the hotel, this is a memorial museum to all the frogman who so bravely served and gave their lives during WW II to the present. John and I found it to be an eye opening experience.
Located in downtown Stuart, a small local performing arts venue that we frequent for concerts.
Located on Hutchinson Island not far from the hotel, this 57 acre marine life and nature center is a research and educational facility that focuses on teaching individuals of all ages about the Florida coastal ecosystem. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Downtown Old Stuart is a quaint restaurant and shopping district that is worth a visit. Whether you are looking for a place to grab a bite to eat (Riverwalk Oyster Bar & Cafe, The Boathouse, Hudson's on the River, Sprtitz Cafe, Gaffords, Duffy's to name a few) there are a number of cute shops and last but not least a great ice cream parlor that most will be familiar with - KILWINS! Had to recommend a place for ice cream for the Ludgate family!
