Our wedding plans are a mix of traditional and unique. Here's the story: We got engaged in December 2024 in La Jolla with family by our side ❤️ we then started planning our wedding, knowing it had to be this summer, so that Kate and her twin brother can each have their own summers to get married 😁 we also knew we wanted to have a celebration in El Salvador, since Carlos' mom, siblings, and grandpa are there. So we started planning with the help of an amazing wedding planner in El Salvador. We love the beach, so we started searching for venues on the coast. Since we are both Catholic, we also had to find a church near the venue. Once that was set, we found out the church required us to be married civilly beforehand. So we scrambled together a civil wedding, with Kate's parents and sister, and Carlos' family members, there to celebrate with us on June 6, 2025. We then worked on completing all the requirements for a Catholic wedding and planned the final details. People have asked which date we will use for our anniversary - the civil or religious wedding? The answer is the religious wedding, August 9, 2025, because that is the ceremony we have spent months planning for and both Kate and Carlos' immediate family will be there. Finally, since Kate is from Massachusetts, she knew she wanted to celebrate with those important to her there too. So we'll be having a Massachusetts-based reception about a month after the wedding to celebrate there. We can't wait to see you!
