We met in October 2020 while we were bridesmaids in a mutual friend’s wedding. After the wedding in February 2021, we continued to keep in touch as friends. In August 2021, Katie made the first move to start moving our friendship into a potential relationship. We began finding ways to make monthly trips to see eachother, meeting in Amarillo, Houston, Corpus Christi, Austin, San Antonio, and even Cancun, Mexico. While we were loving our travel adventures, we both said we did not want to be involved in a long distance relationship. In March 2022, we decided to make it official since we were essentially doing a long distance relationship anyways. We continued to make monthly trips work and January 2023, Angelica took the plunge and moved to Amarillo. We currently live in Amarillo with our fur and scale babies: Tater (cat), Tesla (snake), and Willow (dog). Two Brides Means Two Proposals: Katie managed to propose first in June 2023, much to Angelica’s surprise. The first proposal was done during a private glass blowing class. Glass blowing has been an important part of our relationship since before we were official. Our first date in Amarillo was to a group glass blowing class. We also watched “Blown Away”, a TV show about glass blowing, when we wanted to spend time together over the phone. Katie worked with the owners months ahead of time to create an unforgettable proposal for Angelica. Katie got Angelica to the private class by saying we were guinea pigs for a “date night class” that the owners wanted to start offering. During the class, we made a unity piece that twists together and represents two separate lives becoming intertwined. At the end of the class, one of the owners brought out a previously made unity piece for us to take “promo pictures” with. When the unity piece was brought out, Angelica’s engagement ring was resting on the top and Katie got down on one knee. Angelica had many plans for her proposal to Katie and unfortunately several plans were changed due to the timeline of Katie’s engagement ring arriving. Finally in July 2023, Angelica had the opportunity to propose. Angelica knew that Katie would want an outdoor proposal but that she also wanted to be dressed up. Getting Katie to the nearby Palo Duro Canyon in a dress without her knowing was going to take a miracle and a lot of coordination. Lucky our friend, Lauren, was there to help. Katie and Lauren went to look at a potential wedding venue near the canyon. Afterwards, Lauren drove Katie to Palo Duro Canyon without her consent since they were “just so close” and “could look at the wedding pavilion in the canyon”. After looking around, Lauren dropped Katie off to Angelica at a secluded lookout spot with a gorgeous view of Palo Duro Canyon. Angelica had a beautiful display of photos and glasswork that we had made together. After surprising Katie with a bouquet of roses, she got down on one knee and proposed. Angelica pulled off the miracle by getting Katie to the canyon in a dress and the proposal still be mostly a surprise. The second proposal was just as unforgettable and beautiful as the first.
