It's March 8, 2020. Everything is perfect in the world, what could possibly go wrong? Kat and Jack have both recently moved to Colorado. A mutual friend they had both worked with previously at separate companies thought they should be friends. Jack, who at the time was living with two roommates (his parents) whilst apartment hunting in Denver, invited Kat to Boulder, Colorado for what was supposed to be a brief lunch hangout. Suddenly, it was 14 hours later, and they were lost at a bar in deep conversation. 1 week later, Kat was spending a ski weekend in Breckenridge with some friends, and she graciously invited Jack, who jumped at the opportunity to spend more time with her. The next morning, they woke up to the news that the Governor had shut down ski-resorts state-wide and implemented a "stay-at-home" order due to a mysterious illness called "Covid." What was supposed to be their first day skiing together turned into Jack buying Kat an egregious amount of albacore and as many toilet paper rolls as they could find in order to stock her apartment for the unknown to come. The two then had a tremendous decision to make: were they to lock in together, or were they to quite possibly never see each other again? Luckily, they chose the former, and decided to "bubble up." While in a normal world, dating would consist of getting to know each other little by little and slowly falling in love, in the Covid world, Jack and Kat immediately spent every waking moment together and fell in love quickly. On May 1, 2020, en route to Grand Lake, Colorado, Jack pulled over on the side of the road and asked Kat to hike down to a spot along the Poudre River. He got down on one knee and asked her to be his Girlfriend, which she found quite dramatic but charming, and said yes. In the following years, the two took on the world together, enjoying life in Denver and around Colorado, traveling as often as possible, and creating memories with each other and their loved ones. In May of 2023, after living together for two years, Kat and Jack decided to purchase their first house. On May 23, they completed their move out of their first home and stood in the empty living room remembering the memories they shared. Two days later, on May 25, they returned to that home for a final goodbye, but when Kat opened the door, the living room was not empty; she was welcomed by hundreds of roses, candles, and Jack with his guitar. Jack got down on one knee again, and asked Kat to be his wife, which was the easiest yes of her life. In the following days and months, they purchased their first home, started their first rental property, and booked more trips instead of planning their wedding...which brings us to now, where Jack and Kat are so excited to become husband and wife, and can't wait to celebrate with all of their loved ones by their side in one of their favorite places in the world.
