If you’ve ever seen a brilliantly painted truck in India, you know the vibes. Bright colors, cheeky slogans, florals, parrots, and the ever-present command to “Sound Horn.” We’ve always loved the beauty and creativity of this style: maximalist, playful, and unapologetically vibrant. These trucks are a rolling celebration of life which is how we want this website and our wedding announcement to feel: full of joy, color, humor, and heart. We first crossed paths on Twitter in 2020, during Aditi’s last semester at UCSD and the early days of the pandemic. Memes gave way to late-night chats about mutual aid, politics, and the kind of world we wanted to live in. Kanav cheered Aditi on as she navigated Zoom classes and post-grad uncertainty. By early 2021, we were teaming up on a Twitch fundraiser for the DFW Mutual Aid Fund, celebrating the anniversary of Bread, Kanav’s long-running party. Aditi had just adopted Apollo (her cat, now our cat) and was planning a move to NYC. Somewhere between Facetimes, DMs, and too many shared playlists, Kanav realized he was definitely crushing on Aditi. That summer, Aditi flew to Boston to visit friends, and Kanav promptly decided Boston seemed like a great place to be. With a carefully planned romantic weekend (and a lot of very unnecessary nerves), we finally met IRL and never looked back. Since then, we’ve done long distance, moved across cities (Dallas, NYC, Atlanta, and now Chicago), navigated new jobs, layoffs, and the wind down of Kanav’s startup. We’ve picked up a variety of hobbies along the way (photography, pottery, woodturning, writing) and we’ve supported each other through every new creative endeavor. And now, we're getting married and want to celebrate with everyone who has shaped our life and journey! Many of our friends will be meeting in person for the first time, and we couldn’t be more excited. Whether you’ve known us for decades or for less than a year we’re so glad you’re here. Apollo won’t be in attendance (he’s unionized and refuses to work weekends), but rest assured he’s approved every major decision. We can’t wait to celebrate this special moment with you!
6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
This is our high-energy night of music and dancing. Go festive and colorful! Indian wear: lehengas, anarkalis, salwar suits, kurta-pajamas, bandhgalas. Western wear: cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, suits in fun colors or patterns Mix and match is totally fine. Sequins, embroidery, or bold jewelry encouraged.
9:00 am - 10:00 am
The groom’s procession is outdoors and a little lively. Lightweight kurta sets or Indo-western outfits work well. Day dresses or linen separates are great for those going Western. Flats or shoes you can dance in are a good idea.
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Cocktail attire with a personal twist. This is an evening for sleek, celebratory outfits. Dressy but not overly formal. Dresses, suits, Indo-western fusion, or whatever lets you toast, dine, and dance. Feel free to go elegant, edgy, or just extremely comfortable—we’ll be happy either way.
