Jordan Marie had just moved back to Chicago after a year of working in Disney World to start physical therapy school. Jordan Thomas had just recently come off a long deployment on a ship and was in Chicago for the first portion of EOD school. Neither one of them had been back in Chicago for more than a few weeks when they met. Talk about being in the right place at the right time, right? Jordan Marie and her roommate at the time decided to hop on a dating app to see if they could find some nice guys to take them to dinner and boost their confidence a little (don't judge... they were broke grad students feeling defeated by the first few weeks of PT school). Jordan Thomas was not interested in a relationship since he'd only be in Chicago for 3 months before moving on to the next stage of school, but would occasionally hop on the dating app anyway. And in September 2023, the love story that neither one of them was looking for started with a right swipe on Bumble and a message: "haha, I like your name". The next 3 months were filled with butterflies, weekend dates, and tough conversations about the future and if there even was one. In December 2023, Jordan Thomas had to move to Florida for over a year for the next part of his training and would not be returning to Chicago afterwards. Jordan Marie was only a semester into PT school and would be in Chicago for at least another 2 years. Neither one of them was willing to give up on the other, no matter how difficult the road ahead looked or how far 1,000 miles away sounded. And so began 2 long years of tearful goodbyes, lots of lonely flights, and countless hours on FaceTime. Fast-forward to March 2025, after over a year of long-distance, the light was at the end of the tunnel. Jordan Thomas was graduating from EOD school and had pulled orders to California. Jordan Marie was finishing up her 2nd year of PT school and about to start clinical rotations. While in Florida to celebrate Jordan Thomas' graduation, Jordan Marie got the surprise of a lifetime when he proposed to her on the beach. Of course, she said "yes" and both of them were eager to start planning their life together. Then something incredible happened, something so coincidental that it could only be an act of God. After Jordan Thomas got his orders, Jordan Marie was blessed with an opportunity to do her 3rd and final clinical rotation in California. In July 2025 Jordan Thomas moved out to San Diego and in December 2025, just 5 short months later, Jordan Marie moved out there with him. So after 2 years and 3 months of dating, 2 years of which were long-distance, they finally got to start building a life together. Since then, they've made a home in San Diego. They've got great friends, a church community they love, and even a fur baby (LouLou), now. The love grows more each day and they cannot wait to celebrate their love story with all of their favorite people this November.
