FAQs

If you have any queries we've not dealt with below, please reach out to us by text or email us at hjbb_jms@outlook.com
Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We want you to be comfortable! We suspect that most people will be in fairly standard, semi-formal wedding attire e.g. cocktail dresses, blazers and chinos, dressy jumpsuits, sundresses, and suits etc. We can't predict the weather this far out, but if you want to bring layers there is a large cloakroom available where you can hang jackets and leave items (at your own risk) - so feel free to bring a pair of flats! etc.

Question

Will it be easy to find where I need to go?

Answer

The short, step-free walk from the guest car park to the Courtyard is signposted. The Ceremony Hall is directly accessible from the Courtyard. The Hay Barn is also directly accessible from the Courtyard and will offer shade or shelter during the Drinks Reception. The cloakroom and toilets are in the foyer that connects the Ceremony Hall, Courtyard and the Medieval Barn (where will go for dinner and dancing). Please ensure you only smoke in the designated smoking area as Sandon Manor will not be happy if their Medieval Barn is set alight!

Question

What type of ceremony are you having?

Answer

Our wedding will be conducted by Sue Hill who became a celebrant after retiring from the NHS. She also volunteers with the Alzheimer’s society and is a Flight Sgt in the Air Cadets. There will be music, but you won't have to sing! After the ceremony we'll exit stage right to sign the Marriage Schedule (apparently you no longer sign an actual Register!) and you'll exit stage left to the Drinks Reception in the Courtyard. Once we've officially become Mr and Mrs you'll be asked to gather on the lawn outside Sandon Manor house where there'll be a confetti toss and we'll take a couple of group photos before we head back to the Courtyard for more drinks and canapés.

Question

Confetti

Answer

The venue has restrictions regarding confetti due to their rewilding and ecological efforts. We ask that guests please don't bring their own confetti as we'll be supplying it for you to ensure it meets their requirements.

Question

Will there be a cash bar?

Answer

A cash bar will be run during the evening supplying a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Card and cash payments are accepted. The CAMRA members among you can look out for brews from Tring Brewery in Hertfordshire.

Question

Can we make song requests?

Answer

Songs can be requested in advance from our DJ, Mr V, using the following portal: https://therequestlist.com/4msmxg Password: Request

Question

Do you have a gift registry?

Answer

All we really want for our wedding is for you to be there to celebrate with us. For those who may want to get us a gift to mark the occasion, we have prepared a gift registry https://patchworkit.com/46796/sarson. Euros or National Garden Gift Vouchers would also be gratefully received as we are planning to cross the Channel for a few days after the wedding and we are gradually adding to our garden.

Question

Is Hannah changing her name?

Answer

Yes. For better or worse, Hannah will officially become Mrs Hannah Judith Brookes Sarson on Sunday 7th May 2023!

Question

Why Sandon Manor?

Answer

We didn't know that Sandon Manor existed until we found it in a wedding magazine as we were waiting to board a flight from Stansted to Dublin (to see the McAdams and attend a Terry Pratchett event). On reaching out, we discovered they had availability. It was only then that we looked them up and found they were just 15 minutes away from us! With so many of you travelling from different directions to attend our wedding, being close to home meant we could offer lots of recommendations and use local suppliers. After visiting Sandon Manor, even though it was still a building site at the time, we just knew it was the right place for our wedding!

Question

How accessible is the venue?

Answer

Disabled parking spaces are available in the guest carpark and there is level access throughout the venue. A disabled toilet and baby change facilities are available. If you have please have any concerns about accessibility, please reach out to us so we can try to facilitate your needs.
