In the fall semester of her sophomore year of nursing school at Saint Louis University Brooke was assigned a dorm room in Reinert hall. On move-in day she took notice of her especially handsome new neighbor, John, and told her roommate, "he's going to be mine by the end of the semester." A few weeks later she knocked on his door and asked, quite forwardly, if he would like to take her out sometime. After he picked his jaw up off the floor, called his friends, and finished fist-pumping, John took her up on the offer and they started dating.
Now living together under the same roof and going on their fifth year dating, John and Brooke began seriously discussing a possible future together. John began planning his proposal, which was difficult to keep secret from his inquisitive girlfriend. The only thing left to do was talk to her parents and get her grandmother's ring. He never got the chance though. On their way to get Mexican one night John was on the phone with his mother and the subject of marriage came up. He slipped up and said, "WHEN we get married," not "IF." Brooke had caught him. After returning home, she asked (with the help of some liquid courage courtesy of her friend Mr. Cuervo) in a similar fashion to how she asked him out, "so...are you going to ask me to marry you or what?" Unable to dodge the question any longer John grabbed the nearest ring shape object, a roll of medical tape, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife right there in their living room.
