Allie and Joe met during move-in to Cockerell Hall as freshmen at CU. They quickly developed a close group of friends from the dorm and played intramural soccer together. During the summer following freshmen year, Allie and Joe bonded over their shared love of the outdoors. They went climbing, backpacking, and floating all over Colorado. Joe asked Allie on their first date on New Years Eve 2014. They went ice skating on Evergreen Lake and watched fireworks. For Valentines Day that winter they scrambled up a flatiron under the stars. Their relationship continued to develop through their close-knit group of friends in Boulder, and through travel. One year into dating, they schemed up a backpacking trip across Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Despite the heat, monsoon, bugs, and separatist villages, they survived and even enjoyed themselves. On future trips, trekking across the Andes to Machu Pichu, scuba diving in Colombia, and sailing around Crete, they found a much better balance of adventure and comfort. In 2017, they graduated CU and began careers in science in Boulder. They moved in together, and eventually bought a condo in South Boulder, where they are now raising Derek, an adorable golden-doodle. Joe has always been attracted to Allie's authenticity, intelligence, and beauty. In 2023, he finally took the leap and proposed to Allie with his Grandma Betty's ring at the base of their favorite backcountry skiing zone. Allie is beyond thrilled to marry Joe because of his adventurous and silly nature, and the ring was a perfect fit. We can't wait to have a big party to celebrate everyone who has been a part of our journey!
