Our Story
Alex and I both attended Eastern Connecticut State University, with me a year ahead of him. I first heard of him through the Accounting Society and knew him as a fellow accounting student—nice, smart, and funny. After working several accounting jobs through college and after graduation, I started a new position in Glastonbury in 2022. On my first day, while being shown around the office, I spotted “Alex Rooney” on a cubicle and said, “Hey, I know him!”
In December 2023, Alex invited me out for drinks with coworkers, hoping to make some new friends. The first time we went out for drinks, I shared what I wanted in a partner and my dream of becoming a mom. Soon after, he asked me to lunch on a Saturday, saying he’d “be in the area,” when he actually drove an hour to pick me up. That lunch became a ten-hour date filled with inedible beignets, two movies, and two bottles of wine. From the start, I knew Alex would bring so much love and happiness into my life-and the rest is history. -Jill
