Our rehearsal dinner is for the wedding party only, but we’d love for everyone else to enjoy a fun evening in Charlottesville! Please check out the “Things to Do” section on our site for great dinner spots and activities around town.
5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Italian garden party inspired — light, festive, and perfect for an early June evening in Virginia.
11:00 am
If you’re up for continuing the fun on Sunday, we’ll be at Kardinal Hall for brunch! It’s a relaxed, pay-your-own-tab gathering.
Travel Note
There is ample parking at the venue - please follow the signs to park the day of the wedding. Cars may also be left overnight until 11:00 am Sunday, June 7.
Travel Note
Cabs and Ubers are going to be in high demand around the time of the wedding given that it is reunions weekend. We recommend that you book your cabs and Ubers to and from Chisholm early.
Hotel
We have reserved a room block at the DoubleTree Hotel in Charlottesville. Please use this link to book. We highly recommend booking your Airbnbs or hotel rooms as soon as possible - there are other events going on this weekend tied to the University of Virginia.
House Or Rental
We're recommending that you book your refundable Airbnb or hotel room(s) now, as there are other events going on this weekend tied to the University of Virginia. If booking an Airbnb, we recommend staying very close to the venue or closer to Charlottesville, rather than versus staying outside of town (towards Barboursville etc.).
Charlottesville has a "First Fridays" art walk that happens among art galleries downtown. Here's a list of the galleries that usually take part - its a great activity for after the welcome party, and before dinner! McGuffey Art Center Studios - https://www.mcguffeyartcenter.com/ Second Street Gallery - https://www.secondstreetgallery.org/ Welcome Gallery (New City Arts) - https://newcityarts.org/exhibitions IX Art Park - https://www.ixartpark.org/ And plenty of others - just Google "First Friday" when the time for the wedding weekend is near!
Live music happening Friday evenings all summer long!
Ten is where we had our first date! Order the rock shrimp tempura, the udon, and a tuna avocado roll - you won't be disappointed.
Amazing thai food with a fun patio on bustling Market Street.
Lovers of Italian and Mediterranean food and wine - that'd be, us! - will appreciate Orzo and easy access to parking for a Friday night dinner. http://orzokitchen.com/
A tiny, cozy Italian restaurant with an open kitchen, one of our favorites in Charlottesville. Todd and I have had numerous meals at Tavola, and even more cocktails at the walk-in only Cichetti bar. If you want a cocktail while you are in Charlottesville, the Cichetti bar is your friend.
This is a place for sitting on the patio, people watching, eating delicious food (really great for sharing/snacking, too!). On Friday night, its the place to be with Fridays After Five happening downtown.
We have done a LOT of date nights here. Would we order oysters in June the day before a wedding? Probably not. But everything else (especially, french fries?). Game on.
Margaritas + everything else on the menu. Then, meander.
A really easy brewery for food + drink, positioning you well for exploring downtown.
Sit at the bar or on the patio. Order a rum cocktail. Take a selfie. A lovely Saturday stop for a rum cocktail (just ask for it!) while exploring the Downtown Mall.
A fun Saturday-morning stop while exploring the Downtown Mall.
Downtown shopping - gift and paper store, with the best cards ever.
Downtown Shopping! It’s incredible, it’s got everything - it a lifestyle slash gift store that also has lovebirds? Go check it out.
Downtown Shopping! Great record store. Ideal for a Saturday stroll through local shops before returning to get ready.
An absolute gem of a comic bookstore (and so much more). A quick, fun Saturday stop while exploring downtown.
Downtown Shopping! A boutique where Todd once bought Jenny her favorite Frye boots.
Saturday Farmers Market! They sell all sorts of food and snacks, including the most random thing to pop up in Cville: Baltimore sno-balls. If you go, find the snowball vendor and get a Skyblue/egg custard combo with marshmallow cream. Also, everything else - solid kombucha, Filipino food, donuts, roasted peppers.
Widely known as the best bagels in the U.S. outside of NYC. A great grab-and-go lunch before heading back to get ready. Todd's order: ham, turkey, swiss, bacon, pesto on a sesame bagel, hot and cut. Jenny's order: either a BLT with swiss on wheat everything OR veggie cream cheese on wheat everything. Pomegranate seltzer. Maybe a caesar salad.
A joyful wonderful gardening store in an old Vespa dealership with a brewery attached. Also Todd’s former employer!
The best Saturday morning start before a day of exploring. Once you have one of their chocolate almond croissants, you will be ruined for other pastries.
A Cville institution. Todd and Jenny didn't meet here... but Todd did think it was cool that Jenny worked here at one point! Stop by for grab and go beverages and decent diner-style food. A great place to grab local beer before going back to get ready.
Monticello is a wonderful place to visit. It is beautiful and historic. The gardens are epic. Also, Monticello is run by historians unafraid of Thomas Jefferson's "complicated legacy," so when you go you have to go to the Sally Hemings exhibit. I think the tour guides have been trained to be a little more critical than this phrase suggests, so I feel comfortable using that phrase here. I would not try to squeeze this in, given the distance and traffic in the city - this is for folks who want to come down a day early or stay a day late!
This is our sneaky spot for parking Friday (after 5pm) and all weekend when we want to visit downtown. Check the signage as you came in to make sure that this remains true!
This is your place to park while you are downtown... unless you take our other sneaky suggestion, the old "SNL"/S&P Global Parking Lot.
Please plan to arrive by 4:30 PM so you have time to park, find a seat, and get settled. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 PM, and we encourage guests to be seated a few minutes early. If you come early, you can also grab a glass of wine before the festivities officially begin!
Let's get this question out of the way first! We are hoping for sunshine, but we have a rain plan just in case. If the weather does not cooperate, we will move to covered spaces - a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces at the venue. We are prepared for a wonderful time, rain or shine.
We’re registered on Zola, where you’ll find a mix of things for our home and our honeymoon planning.
There will be parking at the vineyard, where we will host the ceremony and the reception. There is also parking overnight, if for any reason someone needs to leave their vehicle there and pick it up before 11am the next day.
The vibe for this wedding is garden party chic. Think florals, breezy dresses, linen, and light layers. Feel free to use our mood board for inspiration! Since we’ll be on grass, flats, block heels, or wedges are your friends.
We love children, including yours! However, for the wedding ceremony and reception, we respectfully request that no children except those of our immediate family be in attendance.
The nearest airport is Charlottesville–Albemarle Airport (CHO), served by Delta, United, and American Airlines. Charlottesville also has an Amtrak station conveniently located downtown, with service along the East Coast.
Please bring cookies inside the tasting room when you arrive. You can hand them off there, and the venue team will take it from there.
