Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Jenny Poole and Todd Sacco
If you were Todd and Jenny, you’d spend Friday evening at our Welcome Party, then head to one of Charlottesville’s amazing restaurants — maybe even Ten Sushi, where we had our very first date! Downtown, Fridays After Five and First Friday at the art galleries will also be happening. The next morning, you’d start with coffee and a chocolate almond croissant from MarieBette, then explore the Downtown Mall — we love O’Suzannah, Caspari, and a rum cocktail at Hamilton’s (trust us on that one). If you’re up for sightseeing, you could visit UVA or Monticello, but give yourself plenty of time and plan parking ahead — it’s Reunions Weekend, so Monticello might be the easier choice. Before heading back, grab a bottle of wine or local beer from one of Charlottesville’s great shops — Market Street Wine Shop or Beer Run, anyone? Plan to be back at your hotel or Airbnb by 3:00 p.m. to relax and get ready for the celebration. *Please make reservations for Friday dinner plans ahead of time!

First Fridays Art Walk

115 2nd Street Southeast, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Charlottesville has a "First Fridays" art walk that happens among art galleries downtown. Here's a list of the galleries that usually take part - its a great activity for after the welcome party, and before dinner! McGuffey Art Center Studios - https://www.mcguffeyartcenter.com/ Second Street Gallery - https://www.secondstreetgallery.org/ Welcome Gallery (New City Arts) - https://newcityarts.org/exhibitions IX Art Park - https://www.ixartpark.org/ And plenty of others - just Google "First Friday" when the time for the wedding weekend is near!

Fridays After Five

700 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Live music happening Friday evenings all summer long!

Ten

120 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Ten is where we had our first date! Order the rock shrimp tempura, the udon, and a tuna avocado roll - you won't be disappointed.

Monsoon Siam

113 West Market Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Amazing thai food with a fun patio on bustling Market Street.

Orzo Kitchen & Wine Bar

416 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903

Lovers of Italian and Mediterranean food and wine - that'd be, us! - will appreciate Orzo and easy access to parking for a Friday night dinner. http://orzokitchen.com/

Tavola

826 Hinton Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902

A tiny, cozy Italian restaurant with an open kitchen, one of our favorites in Charlottesville. Todd and I have had numerous meals at Tavola, and even more cocktails at the walk-in only Cichetti bar. If you want a cocktail while you are in Charlottesville, the Cichetti bar is your friend.

Himalayan Fusion

520 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

This is a place for sitting on the patio, people watching, eating delicious food (really great for sharing/snacking, too!). On Friday night, its the place to be with Fridays After Five happening downtown.

Public Fish & Oyster

513 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903

We have done a LOT of date nights here. Would we order oysters in June the day before a wedding? Probably not. But everything else (especially, french fries?). Game on.

The Bebedero

201 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Margaritas + everything else on the menu. Then, meander.

Three Notch'd Craft Kitchen & Brewery

520 2nd Street Southeast, Charlottesville, VA 22902

A really easy brewery for food + drink, positioning you well for exploring downtown.

Hamiltons' at First & Main

101 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Sit at the bar or on the patio. Order a rum cocktail. Take a selfie. A lovely Saturday stop for a rum cocktail (just ask for it!) while exploring the Downtown Mall.

O'Suzannah

320 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

A fun Saturday-morning stop while exploring the Downtown Mall.

Rock Paper Scissors Cville

321 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Downtown shopping - gift and paper store, with the best cards ever.

Caspari

100 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Downtown Shopping! It’s incredible, it’s got everything - it a lifestyle slash gift store that also has lovebirds? Go check it out.

Sidetracks Music

310 2nd Street Southeast, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Downtown Shopping! Great record store. Ideal for a Saturday stroll through local shops before returning to get ready.

Hello Comics

211 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

An absolute gem of a comic bookstore (and so much more). A quick, fun Saturday stop while exploring downtown.

BitterSweet Boutique

106 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Downtown Shopping! A boutique where Todd once bought Jenny her favorite Frye boots.

Charlottesville City Market

100 East Water Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Saturday Farmers Market! They sell all sorts of food and snacks, including the most random thing to pop up in Cville: Baltimore sno-balls. If you go, find the snowball vendor and get a Skyblue/egg custard combo with marshmallow cream. Also, everything else - solid kombucha, Filipino food, donuts, roasted peppers.

Bodo's Bagels

505 Preston Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22903

Widely known as the best bagels in the U.S. outside of NYC. A great grab-and-go lunch before heading back to get ready. Todd's order: ham, turkey, swiss, bacon, pesto on a sesame bagel, hot and cut. Jenny's order: either a BLT with swiss on wheat everything OR veggie cream cheese on wheat everything. Pomegranate seltzer. Maybe a caesar salad.

Fifth Season Gardening

900 Preston Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22903

A joyful wonderful gardening store in an old Vespa dealership with a brewery attached. Also Todd’s former employer!

MarieBette Café and Bakery

700 Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903

The best Saturday morning start before a day of exploring. Once you have one of their chocolate almond croissants, you will be ruined for other pastries.

Beer Run

156 Carlton Road, Charlottesville, VA 22902

A Cville institution. Todd and Jenny didn't meet here... but Todd did think it was cool that Jenny worked here at one point! Stop by for grab and go beverages and decent diner-style food. A great place to grab local beer before going back to get ready.

Thomas Jefferson's Monticello

1050 Monticello Loop, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Monticello is a wonderful place to visit. It is beautiful and historic. The gardens are epic. Also, Monticello is run by historians unafraid of Thomas Jefferson's "complicated legacy," so when you go you have to go to the Sally Hemings exhibit. I think the tour guides have been trained to be a little more critical than this phrase suggests, so I feel comfortable using that phrase here. I would not try to squeeze this in, given the distance and traffic in the city - this is for folks who want to come down a day early or stay a day late!

Downtown Parking Option - S&P Global

701 East Market Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

This is our sneaky spot for parking Friday (after 5pm) and all weekend when we want to visit downtown. Check the signage as you came in to make sure that this remains true!

Downtown Parking Option - Water Street Parking Garage

200 East Water Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

This is your place to park while you are downtown... unless you take our other sneaky suggestion, the old "SNL"/S&P Global Parking Lot.

FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please plan to arrive by 4:30 PM so you have time to park, find a seat, and get settled. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 PM, and we encourage guests to be seated a few minutes early. If you come early, you can also grab a glass of wine before the festivities officially begin!

Question

What happens if it rains?

Answer

Let's get this question out of the way first! We are hoping for sunshine, but we have a rain plan just in case. If the weather does not cooperate, we will move to covered spaces - a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces at the venue. We are prepared for a wonderful time, rain or shine.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We’re registered on Zola, where you’ll find a mix of things for our home and our honeymoon planning.

Question

Will there be parking for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

There will be parking at the vineyard, where we will host the ceremony and the reception. There is also parking overnight, if for any reason someone needs to leave their vehicle there and pick it up before 11am the next day.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The vibe for this wedding is garden party chic. Think florals, breezy dresses, linen, and light layers. Feel free to use our mood board for inspiration! Since we’ll be on grass, flats, block heels, or wedges are your friends.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love children, including yours! However, for the wedding ceremony and reception, we respectfully request that no children except those of our immediate family be in attendance.

Question

What is the nearest airport or Amtrak station?

Answer

The nearest airport is Charlottesville–Albemarle Airport (CHO), served by Delta, United, and American Airlines. Charlottesville also has an Amtrak station conveniently located downtown, with service along the East Coast.

Question

Where do I drop off the cookies I baked?

Answer

Please bring cookies inside the tasting room when you arrive. You can hand them off there, and the venue team will take it from there.
