Garrett and Jenny first met on Hinge in April 2020 during the height of the pandemic. While they both lived only a few blocks away from each other in NYC, Jenny was quarantining at her family's house in North Carolina, while Garrett was with friends in Connecticut when they first matched on the app. They quickly bonded over growing up in North Carolina and their mutual love for karaoke. In typical Covid fashion, their first date was over FaceTime. Jenny was up in her childhood bedroom with a White Claw, and Garrett had a Bud Light in an attic of a family's house he had just met a month prior. After that first date, they became pandemic pen pals - creating inside jokes, swapping photos of quarantine pastries, and leaning on each other as an escape from the chaos of the world around them. Their first in-person date was in December 2020 when they were both back in NYC. Jenny immediately told Garrett she was moving to Colorado when her lease was up that summer. While that may have deterred some from pursuing a relationship, Garrett and Jenny became closer as the world slowly started to open up that spring and summer. Jenny moved to Denver, Colorado in September 2021 and Garrett followed suit that following May. After 3 wonderful years of hiking, Red Rocks concerts, and weekend ski trips to Vail/Beaver Creek, they made the move back to NYC in April 2025. One week after settling into their new apartment, Garrett popped the question in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the neighborhood where they had their first in-person date, and immediately celebrated with friends and family.
