It was a day like any other. I was invited to attend a flip cup tournament at Denver’s Blake Street Tavern (RIP) on a warm summer day. Gavin was also invited - though I had no idea who he was and he didn’t know me. Our team was buzzin’. I was completely destroying the competition with my one flips. People were asking for my autograph it was crazy. During one of the final rounds, I turned to Gavin, who I just met, and said “Don’t fuck this up.” And I’m happy to report: he didn’t. We won! And then I ended up winning the entire solo tournament. Which, you know, wasn’t a big deal. Seriously, stop asking about it. You’re embarrassing me. Anyways, that was the last I saw of him, until I ran into him a few days later and realized we worked together (had no idea. I asked him zero questions the day of the tournament except if he was good at flip cup). But the second I ran into him again, I knew he was something special, and stalked social media immediately and slid into his DMs. He was a horrendous texter. Kid would leave me on read for 4+ hours. But I wouldn’t give up. I finally asked him to go to a Rockies game with me. He said no (embarrassing). I thought it was because he didn't like me, but he just already made plans that night. The nerve. But I didn’t care. I asked him out again and he said yes! This time, he came up with the idea of tacos and margaritas. And it didn’t disappoint. I never laughed harder or smiled more than I did on that date. And we never left each others’ side after that. We built a beautiful life in Denver and then when the time came that I wanted to move back home, he didn’t question it and followed me there (stalker). People say when you know, you know. And I knew the second I saw him at Blake Street Tavern. But we wanted to wait 8 years to get married to keep everyone on their toes. We’re so excited to celebrate with everyone!
