Travel Note
There are several great airport options for getting to the Folsom/Placerville area, depending on where you’re traveling from and how much exploring you want to do before or after the wedding. Sacramento International Airport (SMF) The easiest and closest option - about 40 minutes from downtown Folsom and just over an hour from David Girard Vineyards. Sacramento is a smaller, easy-to-navigate airport with plenty of rental car options. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Roughly two hours west of Folsom, perfect if you’d like to make a mini trip out of your visit and explore the Bay Area or Napa Valley before heading inland. Plan for some traffic, but the drive east toward Folsom is scenic once you clear the city. Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) About two hours northeast of Folsom, this is a fun alternative if you’d like to experience Lake Tahoe on your way in or out. The route takes you through mountain and lake views - one of the most beautiful drives in Northern California.
Travel Note
We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore beyond downtown Folsom or stay outside the Lake Natoma Inn area. That said, if you stay at Lake Natoma Inn, you can easily walk to restaurants, coffee, and bars and won’t necessarily need a car once you arrive. We’ll also offer a shuttle service between Folsom and El Dorado Hills and the wedding venue on the day of the wedding. If you’re flying into Sacramento, there’s rideshare and taxi service directly from the airport to Folsom. From the Bay Area or Reno, a car will give you the most flexibility and make for a great weekend road trip.
