Our Story

Enfield Twin Rinks is the Invisible String

It all began in the moonlit parking lot of Enfield Twin Rinks. Hannah did not know who Jeff was, but they had a great conversation about Pintou’s Indian food in Springfield, Hannah left the conversation thinking that man was extremely kind. Hannah actually doesn’t know where the beginning of this story starts. Their paths had crossed before this moment. What is clear about this beginning is it occurred at different times for Jeff and Hannah. In the summer, Jeff and Hannah play hockey on the same team (when his knees work) and so Sunday night hockey continued as did moonlit parking lot drinks. Eventually, Hannah began to notice Jeff’s eyes always on her when she looked up, him standing next to her to talk more. He killed a large spider that made a home between her car’s side mirror and window. Hannah finally drove with her window down and thought of nothing but Jeff all week. Only later did Hannah find out that Jeff haaaates spiders. As the summer days kept rolling, we began to get together with friends for roller blading and pickle ball several days a week. Jeff always tried to join us and on the days he did Hannah realized she drove home with the biggest, dumbest smile, not quite yet realizing what was happening. We all got together for a movie night, and Jeff, caught up in the conversation and moment with Hannah, asked to kiss her. She said yes. And our friends did a silent happy dance awkwardly in the background. Two days later, Hannah went to Jeff’s house for their first date, carving pumpkins and watching House of Dragon. It took only 3 weeks for them to say ‘I love you’ but it was evident their feelings were feelings of love from the start. While it may not have been love at first sight, Hannah knows it was ‘wow that’s a beautiful man, I bet he has a gorgeous blonde wife at home’ – thankfully he will have a redheaded one instead come November ! Officially a couple on October 15th, Hannah wanted to keep it quiet from the hockey team in case it didn’t work out. But at hockey later that night, they shared one look across the lobby, and the girls called Hannah out ‘You’re dating Jeff.’ And it was so obvious, of course they were smitten. Meanwhile many of the guys already thought we were dating based on whatever Jeff was telling them… Fast forward a few years, and Jeff and Krissie, Hannah’s maid of honor, came up with a plan for the proposal. It was just after our last summer hockey game, our last game on the same team, we were lining up to take a team photo – but girls first of course, because the girls on the team do whatever they want. As the girls lined up for their photo, Jeff was off to the side, on one knee, with his grandfather’s diamond, he said ‘Hannah’ and all the girls turned and proceeded to freak out!!! Hannah had to have a moment freaking out with her girls before absolutely saying yes to a life with Jeff.
