Question

How did the Bride & Groom meet?

Answer

Our story technically began in 2008 when we were 14 years old, sitting in the same high school classrooms at Lakeside Lutheran High School. We had mutual friends but ran in different circles and didn't talk except for one conversation in American Lit (which Emilie remembers, but Jared denies). Graduation came and we went off to different colleges. Over the years, there were a few almosts: a college party invitation, mutual friend outings, an alleged set up, a few liked Instagram posts, and maybe even a message that went nowhere. Fast forward to August, 2024 when we were 30 years old.. After some encouragement from her brother, sister-in-law, friends, and one margarita on a girl's day with her mom, she worked up the liquid courage and sent Jared a DM asking if he’d be interested in grabbing a drink. A week later, we met at The Yard at the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee and the rest is history. All in God's good and perfect timing.

Question

How did Jared propose?

Answer

Ten days before the proposal, Jared drove to Watertown to ask for my parents' blessing. On August 15th, Jared told me we were meeting his parents for dinner in Milwaukee. While I was on my way there, Jared called with a change of plans and said his parents were unable to make it because his Grandpa got the tractor stuck and needed help. When I arrived, Jared walked out with a picnic basket and he drove us to Veteran’s Park — the spot where we had a picnic early in our relationship. As we walked in the park, I spotted a blanket surrounded by flowers, candles, wine, and a picture of us. That's when I realized it wasn't just a change of plans. At that moment, Jared got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Jared's sister, Tayler, and brother-in law, Jason, came home from North Carolina. They were in disguise to film and photograph the proposal. Jared then suggested we go to The Yard, our first date spot. To my surprise, when we arrived, both our families were there waiting to celebrate with us.
