So after about a year and half of us dating, the question began, "So when are you guys getting married?" Well, we shrugged our shoulders and said, "Eh, we don't know." Around year two, the questions became more intense, "Why haven't you guys gotten married?", "Why hasn't he asked her yet?", "They already live together, so why not go ahead and do it?". Many a night was spent conversing on the topic. In the beginning, both of us were uncertain. At one point, one of us (guess who?) was totally against the whole idea entirely (Why do we have to be married if we love one another? What's the big idea? *proceeds to research the origins of marriage and becomes disgusted*). Then one random night in the middle of the week, he said, "So when do you wanna get married?". Shocked and extremely flabbergasted, she responded, "Uh, I don't know. What makes you say that?". He responded, "Well I've thought about it for a while and I have everything in life that I want, but the last thing I want to do is marry you." *insert AWWW* She responded, "So how long have you been thinking about this? Because I was totally cool with the whole not being married thing." He said, "Oh about 3 or 4 months....." *insert face of shock on her* She responds with, "Well I'll need time to think about it and re-evaluate my beliefs." A few months later, at a Greek restaurant in Savannah, she states out of the blue, "So when do you wanna get married?". He responds with, "Well, I don't know. I'd like to talk to your dad before anything so maybe that should happen next. And don't go asking me when that will happen." *insert smirk on his face* She responds with, "O.K. no rush on that!."...............
Many moons (about a year) after the Greek restaurant discussion, there was a trip planned to Hawaii in September. Two weeks prior, he was in the shower, she was brushing her teeth, and all was well. Then through the shower curtain, she hears, "So do you wanna get married in Hawaii?" She responded with, "Well, yeah, we can look into that, sure!" The next question, "What are we gonna do about the rings?" She responded, "Well you know how I feel about the whole ring thing, but if it's something that you believe in, we can look into that too, yeah." And then, "O.K. well start looking into the marriage laws for Hawaii and what we need to do before we go." Suddenly she froze, with terror (not really terror probably shock, but it felt like terror) and said, "Wait......do you mean get married in Hawaii, like, on this trip?? Like, the Hawaii that we're going to in two weeks??" He responded, "Yeah!" Her heart jumped up into her throat and saying, "O.K!!!!", she immediately rushed to get the laptop. He followed her, bolting out from the bathroom with excitement (it was so weird! those of you that know this man know he doesn't get excited....for anything), and they both dove into elopement research. No, we did not get married in Hawaii on that trip, but we're going to after we celebrate our union decision with our amazing family and friends at this ceremony!!!!!!
