As we rang in 2012, James and I had no idea that simultaneously, states away from each other, we were both packing up our lives and headed for a similar journey. While I was in Los Angeles, James was in Bend, and soon our paths would cross in Tempe, at the Carsten Institute of Cosmetology. We built a friendship through our common interests and unfamiliar transitions, until one day, James strategically told Emilio--our mutual school friend--about his feelings for me. With Emilio playing cupid, our friendship developed into a mutual crush. 'Slow and steady wins the race', and over time James introduced me to the most important person in his life--Jaxon--his darling three year old son. Now, here we are seven years later, and all of the sudden Jaxon is ten, and our family unit is stronger than ever. Unlike myself, James discovered that hair is not his passion, but it was 'shear fate' that brought us together, and he and Jaxon have a partner, step mom and hairdresser for life!
