Schedule

The Wedding Website of Aaron Shin and Jae Hyun Paik
If you're coming all the way to Seoul then our main priority is making sure you have a great trip, meaning that we'll probably have a welcome lunch/dinner around Itaewon, Noksapyeong, or Hannam the day before the wedding. After the wedding, we're gonna have a dance party either at Mondrian Hotel or at another venue, and the Sunday afterwards maybe hangover brunch? If you're from/live in Seoul, sorry. You're officially a second-class guest. Jokes!

Travel

The Wedding Website of Aaron Shin and Jae Hyun Paik
To get to Seoul from Incheon Airport, just take a taxi. It'll come out to roughly $50 and will save you the headache of public transportation. Going back to Incheon's the same deal. Hop into a taxi and carefully enunciate "GONG-HANG" (airport) while flapping your arms, and the driver is certain to understand. For accommodations, we recommend booking The Mondrian Hotel (Seoul Itaewon location), since it's about a four minute walk from the wedding venue. Other hotels in the area include: Hyatt Hotel, IP Boutique Hotel, A One Hotel, Hamilton Hotel, and a vast selections of affordable AirBnbs (search the Itaewon or Hannam neighborhoods). You can also crash at my place but I only have room for one.

Hotel

Mondrian Seoul Itaewon

Jangmun-ro, Seoul 04392, South Korea

This is where everyone should aim to stay. So, start aiming!

Hotel

Grand Hyatt Seoul

Sowol-ro, Seoul 04347, South Korea

This is the furthest walk from the venue (roughly 25 minutes), but by car it's very fast. It's also the closest hotel to our afterparty space, although you'll have to drunkenly stumble uphill for 5 minutes.

Hotel

IP Boutique Hotel

한남동, Seoul 04349, South Korea

Great location, and the main lobby bathrooms have bidets! Welcome to Asia.

Hotel

Itaewon A One Hotel

The rooms are cheap and centrally located. But it's budget as fuck, so we will be judging you.

It is customary in Korea to give money instead of pots and pans. If you can't tell from the photo above, we've got everything we need! How much do you give? Great question. How much do you make? All jokes aside, simply place the moneys in a cute envelope and leave it at the front desk (there will be a bride's side and groom's side) when you arrive to Brightenhouse on 9/2!

Wedding Party

Wedding party coming soon!

Itaewon, noksapyeong, hannam

I'm gonna be brief. Breakfast: Summer Lane, Original Pancake House, Local Villa Bagel, McDonald's. Meals: Crispy Pork Town (Mexican), Gino's Pizza, Emoi or Qunyh (Vietnamese), Gilbert Burger, RockaDoodle (Nashville chicken), California Kitchen & Craft Pub (beers, burgers, vegan burritos), La Cruda (Mexican), Homer (pizza and wine), Bar Boo (pasta and wine), McDonald's Drinks: Southside Parlor (my #1), Blacklist (my #2), BDBD Lounge (swanky cocktails), Pussyfoot Saloon (swankier cocktails), Thursday Party (for a college bar vibe), Fountain (for a club vibe), Tap Public (beer hall vibe), McDonald's (open 24 hours, 100% a vibe at 2:00 am).
Visuals to come...

Things To Do

Because Diptesh asked! Korean spots only: 1. Mongtan (Samgakji Station). Really good KBBQ but you have to put your name down at 2PM if you expect to be seated at 6PM. Long wait but worth it. Walk around for 4 hrs iono. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g294197-d23305395-Reviews-Mongtan-Seoul.html 2. Woo Lae Oak (Euljiro): North Korean style cold noodles + bulgogi. So fucking good; kinda pricey. Get there at 11:30AM to eat around 12:15. https://guide.michelin.com/kr/en/seoul-capital-area/kr-seoul/restaurant/woo-lae-oak 3. Doyajib (Samgakji): Pork. Again, long wait, probably an hour? Same neighborhood as Mongtan. https://www.instagram.com/doyajib_/ As for recommendations for Busan--I have no idea! Get seafood, though.
가로수길 (Garosukil Shopping/Eating Area)

가로수길 (Garosukil Shopping/Eating Area)

Dosan-daero, Seoul 06038, South Korea

A great place to buy Gentle Monster sunglasses (much cheaper than they are in the United States), grab Korean BBQ or donkatsu, and see the country's first Apple Store. You can't go 20 feet without seeing a sunlit bakery or newly built cafe, and there's a bunch of plastic surgery clinics if you're into that shit!

Seoul Forest Park

Seoul Forest Park

Ttukseom-ro, Seoul, South Korea

We had our first kiss here. Well, not in the park, but in the subway station beneath it. This area of Seoul also leads into Seongsu, so you can get your steps in if you're not making out with someone.

Seongsu

Seongsu

Seongsu-dong 1(il)-ga, Seoul, South Korea

The streets here are wide and clean. You can grab authentic Indian food or hot dogs topped with bone marrow. Wine bars abound, as do microbreweries (Amazing Brewery comes to mind) and cute ass stores employed by cute ass college kids. Jae's CrossFit gym is here too. Go say hi to her trainer!

Chat GPT

Chat GPT

I got lazy and decided to have Chat GPT write up some touristy stuff: 1. Gyeongbokgung Palace: This is the largest and most iconic palace in Seoul, built in the 14th century. Visitors can explore the palace grounds, admire the stunning architecture, and watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony.
 2. Namsan Tower: Also known as the Seoul Tower, this is a must-visit spot for panoramic views of the city. Visitors can take a cable car or hike up to the tower, which stands at 236 meters tall.
 3. Myeong-dong: This is a bustling shopping district that's popular with both locals and tourists. It offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and street food vendors. 4. Bukchon Hanok Village: This is a traditional Korean village with over 900 hanok (traditional Korean houses). Visitors can take a stroll through the narrow alleys and admire the beautifully preserved architecture.

FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by July 15th, 2023. (I know the date keeps changing but this is final!)

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We're thinking light, airy colors for women (anything that looks good with lots of flowers), and dark suits for men (I'll be wearing beige). It's also a Korean wedding, meaning be modest. Gossipy elders will be in attendance!

Question

Can I bring a Plus One?

Answer

We're sorry, but this is an intimate affair! If you're flying from the States, please fly in with your partner and enjoy Seoul together! But the wedding is strictly invite only.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Hell yeah, just message one of us!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is very limited parking, so we suggest staying at the Mondrian Hotel (which is a very close walk to Brightenhouse), or taking taxis! As for the afterparty, there are multiple buses that take you from Mondrian Hotel to the venue. Otherwise, it's about a 15-minute walk to the afterparty.
