Yellowstone National Park is technically just a few mountains from the 320 Ranch, and the West Yellowstone entrance is 37 miles south, making a day trip to Old Faithful or Yellowstone Falls easy. Note that park traffic can be heavy during the summer months, so plan some extra time for getting around.
The Lone Peak Tram in summer offers a breathtaking journey to the summit of Lone Peak at 11,166 feet, showcasing unmatched views of Montana’s rugged beauty. Accessible via a scenic gondola ride followed by a dramatic tram ascent, it provides 360-degree vistas of three states—Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho—and even Yellowstone’s iconic peaks. At the top, visitors can marvel at expansive alpine meadows, valleys, and mountain ranges, perfect for hiking, photography, or simply soaking in nature’s splendor. Ideal for adventurers and sightseers alike, the Lone Peak Tram delivers an unforgettable experience that captures the majesty of Montana's wilderness.
Let Marce Hoffman, our longtime Horse Operations Manager, and his team of expert wranglers show you why horseback riding is a way of life here. The 320 wranglers care for 60-80 horses daily, ensuring a top-notch experience for guests. They also maintain the trails throughout the summer, so you’re in skilled hands. Explore high mountain meadows or ride along the Gallatin River, with opportunities to see the Sunken Forest, created in 1959, and wildlife such as elk, deer, moose, eagles, bears, and even wolves. Choose from one, two, or four-hour rides (see website for pricing). To truly experience Montana, you need to see it from the back of a horse. Cullan and Jake have ridden here many times, and it’s absolutely stunning! Reservations Required: Availability is not guaranteed, so we recommend booking your horseback riding adventure in advance.
Montana is world-famous for wild trout, and the Blue Ribbon Gallatin River—featured in A River Runs Through It—flows for two miles through our property! The 320 Ranch also has a private, on-ranch pond for fly fishing, so you can enjoy a day on the water without leaving the property. Within a two-hour radius, you’ll find legendary fly fishing waters like the Yellowstone, Madison, Henry’s Fork, and Yellowstone Park streams and lakes, making this area a mecca for anglers. Fly fishing equipment rentals are available on-site. While the 320 Ranch is not a licensed outfitter and cannot provide instruction or guiding on public waters, guide shops from Big Sky can pick you up at the ranch for walk-and-wade or float trips. With so many opportunities, fishing here is unforgettable!
