Travel

American citizens don't need a visa to travel to Italy, but your passport must be valid for at least six months past the date of your return. Italy also requires proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test for international travelers. We will email guests in June with the latest travel regulations. In the meantime, here's some other information about the two airports we recommend flying into to get to Friuli. Let us know if you have any questions or want help planning a longer trip. For a (hopefully) fun overview, check out the travel guide we e-mailed out in early September!

Flight

Venice Marco Polo Airport

The closest airport to Udine is Venice Marco Polo Airport. There are direct flights to Venice from NYC in the summer, but they can be pricey. From Venice, you can either rent a car and drive to Udine (1.5 hours) or you can take public transportation.

Flight

Milano Malpensa Airport

A cheaper option for flying to northern Italy is flying into Milan. From the Milano Malpensa Airport, you can rent a car and drive to Udine in about 4 hours. Let us know if you want recommendations on towns to stop along the way.

Train

Public transportation from Venice to Udine

If you want to take public transportation from Venice airport to Udine, you can either take a cab or a bus from the airport to the Venezia Mestre train station. From there, you can take a direct train to Udine (about 2-hour ride). Taxis will be right outside the airport (about 15 minute ride). To buy bus tickets from Venice Marco Polo Airport to the Venezia Mestre train station visit: https://www.atvo.it/index.php?lingua=en# To buy train tickets from Venezia Mestre to Udine, visit: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html

To rent a car, we recommend using trusted car rental companies like Avis or Hertz. Shuttle

Shuttle from Udine to the venue

July 3, 2021 4:15 pm - 3:00 am

There will be shuttle buses to drive guests to our wedding venue. The buses will depart at 4:15 pm on the dot from the Astoria Hotel Italia in Udine, so please be there on time! Buses will also drive guests back to Udine starting at midnight, then again at 1:30 am. The final bus will leave the venue at 3 am.

Travel Note

Taxis in Udine

Udine is a very walkable city. We recommend staying in the city center, but there are taxis if you need or want to stay outside town. We'll post more information about them soon.
