It was pretty much love at first sight. When Jamie moved to Oakland in 2015, their mutual friend, Brenda Iijima had reached out to them both and suggested that they should meet. They ended up meeting at a poetry reading at legendary Woolsey Heights. They both tried to not follow each other around all night. A little later, they had a picnic in Raimondi Park and read some John Weiners together, who it turns out, is both their favorite poet. A few years later, Jamie proposed in that same park, and the rest is history.
