A Love Story Worth the Wait

Some love stories start with sparks. Ours started with a noise complaint and a stolen pizza... Seriously.

We both went to ECSU at the same time, completely unaware that our lives kept brushing right past each other. One night, Kayleigh was studying in the library with a friend and smuggled in a pizza. Fifteen minutes and one very loud early-2000s playlist later, a noise complaint showed up. A guy working at the library swooped in and confiscated the pizza. That guy? Isaac. And that wasn’t our only almost-moment. We grew up 15 minutes apart, went to different (but close) high schools, and floated around similar social circles in high school and college. We likely stood in the same movie theater lines and attended the same campus events without ever knowing. Oh, and Kayleigh’s sixth birthday party was in the clubhouse of Isaac’s childhood condo complex. So yes, we were in the same places long before we ever actually met. The universe clearly had jokes. Years later, it finally got it together and gave us Hinge. We matched, hit it off fast, and set a first date for the following Sunday. But by Tuesday, Kayleigh got bold and texted: “Want to get ice cream before then?” Isaac picked her up the next day (in the exact same make, model, and color as her car), and a quick Dairy Queen stop turned into three hours of easy conversation and laughter. That Sunday, we had our second date, which lasted 11 hours and involved HomeGoods, sushi, curly fries, and a trip to a lookout in Old Saybrook. That spot became our place. From then on, we were inseparable. Six months later, we moved in together. Three years after that, Isaac proposed at that same lookout in Old Saybrook. He hid the ring box inside a water bottle (filled with water) and even took a sip mid-lunch to avoid any suspicion. Since then, we’ve grown together through moves, new jobs, countless ice cream dates, and adopting two chaotic, lovable cats, Winnie and Ollie. Now we’re finally getting married!! It’s funny (and kind of crazy) how many times we almost met. But once the timing clicked, everything else did too. Our life together has been full of adventure, laughter, and shared snacks (not stolen pizza). We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
