We first met briefly in high school at a mutual friend's house over a game of beer pong... I mean water pong. Ian was a very confident high school wrestler that seemed to be friends with everyone. During this game of pong, we exchanged some competitive words and I quickly decided I didn't like him, and he didn't like me. Fast forward to 2018 after we both went through the trials and tribulations of life, we reconnected over an Instagram post I had made about my favorite Halloween movie Halloweentown. It wasn't until later I found out that this movie was not his favorite, he just wanted to spark a conversation. Needless to say, we found out how much we actually did like each other and how much we had in common. Moral of the story, second impressions are just as important as the first.
It was the Fourth of July and we had been preparing all day because we had invited friends and family over for a BBQ to watch the fireworks from our rooftop like we do every year. It seemed like we had been cooking and cleaning for hours. Our friends mentioned they wanted to go out on the town after the fireworks, and that we should get ready before the show started so that we could leave right after. It was finally time to head to the roof, so everyone rushed up the ladder. As I climb to the top, I heard our song “Forever after all” playing and saw a path of tealight candles leading to a wall made from palettes. It was decorated with lights and pictures of us from the past three years together and all the places we had traveled. As I approached him and finally reached the end of the path, he grabbed my hands, looked into my eyes with such excitement, dropped to one knee and proposed with our friends and family all gathered around. I said “YES!” We are so excited to celebrate with you all!
