Kayla and Holister met in June 2019 during what Kayla thought would be a simple girls’ night at her best friend’s house. When she heard a few guys were coming, she thought about running for the door—but ultimately decided to stay (with a little persuasion from the girls). Thank you, Jesus. Then she saw him: a man in a Canadian tuxedo with a beard. Her first thought was, “Who is this redneck?” Little did she know, he would soon become the love of her life. That evening, as everyone shared their plans for the fall, Holister stated that he would soon be leaving for basic training at Fort Benning. Kayla assumed their paths would separate at that point. Instead, he asked for her number, marking the beginning of their relationship. Over the years, they have shared many experiences together, traveling across the United States and abroad, from Georgia, Tennessee, and Arizona to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. They have also spent time apart, navigating multiple schools, trainings, and a deployment. Throughout these experiences, they remained each other's first priority and grew stronger together. At the heart of their relationship is their shared faith in Jesus. Their commitment to following Christ together has guided them through life, shaping every challenge, every joy, and every step of their journey. They share two dogs, Nellie and Buck, and a cat, Bagheera. Together, they love movie nights, tennis, pickleball, traveling, and hunting for antique treasures. Above all, they are grateful for the love God has brought into their lives and for the families who will now be joined through their marriage.
