Almost six years ago, we met for the first time in a Metro Church Spanish Conversation Group. Despite a rocky beginning - involving quite a bit of rock climbing - we eventually became friends and infamous for hosting crab boils, Jurassic Park Meat-Lovers parties, Fourth of July festivities, and outdoor adventures. In between all this, we realized we could plan really well - so why not plan some dates too?
After dating for two years, Daniel was moved by the Air Force to the grand state of Oklahoma. There's nothing that great to say about that state or about long distance in general. It would be great if Southwest Airlines would sponsor this section - we've really racked up the airline miles!
Fueled by mediocre coffee and the promise of more coffee, we hiked up a trail somewhere deep, deep, deep in the heart of the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. It was our three year anniversary, and despite the lack of cell service and one shabby map, we got to the trail head. We made our way up the trail and finally, there it was - the overlook of a lifetime! But behold! It was covered by Instagram- and Snapchat-happy teenagers and couples. Daniel said we should wait around until the crowd cleared. So we waited. And waited. And waited. And kept waiting for nearly an hour. Finally, it was clear that Instagram would wait for no couple - so we jumped in when there was a break in the hipsters. Daniel got down on one knee and asked if Katie would be interested in the keeping this adventure planning thing going on a permanent basis. She said yes.
