Our story began when we crossed paths at Rutgers University in 2015. Matt was acting in a play on campus with Maddie’s sister Justice. Coincidentally, in the play, Matt’s character was pursuing Justice’s character’s sister- ah how art mirrors life! After meeting at the show, Maddie started to crash the cast hangouts and she and Matt instantly hit it off. They developed a close friendship and would talk constantly. In 2018, Matt tried to give Maddie a hint that he might want to be more than friends when he took her to see his favorite artist Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden and then a few months later to see her favorite artist Bruce Springsteen on Broadway. Not too long after that, Matt and Maddie went on their first official date to get dinner at Jose Tejas followed by a movie trip to see Crazy Rich Asians. After fun-filled years filled with new homes, new jobs, exciting trips, many concerts and plays, and countless Rutgers basketball games, Matt surprised Maddie with a marriage proposal at Hamilton Park in Weehawken, NJ on March 9, 2024. This was truly a full circle moment as three months into dating, Matt took Maddie to Hamilton Park as it is the best view of the New York skyline and a very confident Maddie quipped “Hey, wouldn’t it be crazy if you proposed here one day?” Through laughter, shared dreams, and unforgettable memories, we’ve grown stronger as a couple, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this next chapter of our journey with you.
