Train
The R subway line is an easy conduit between downtown Brooklyn and the Bay Ridge Manor. You can get the R at the Jay Street/MetroTech subway stop in downtown Brooklyn. Take the R toward Bay Ridge to the 77th Street station, where you will surface at 76th or 77th Street and 4th Avenue; Bay Ridge Manor is at 476 76th Street, close to 5th Avenue. In addition, both hotels are about a 20-minute car ride from the venue. Rideshare services will be easiest but the hotels should be able to help you get a taxi. Other convenient subway stops near the hotels to get into Manhattan or elsewhere are the A/C at Jay Street or High Street and the 2/3 at Borough Hall.
Flight
JFK: it is easy to get to downtown Brooklyn via public transit. Take the AirTrain at JFK to Jamaica Station, then take an LIRR train at Jamaica to Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn (last stop on the line). The Atlantic Terminal train station is then a very short cab ride or a 15-20 minute walk to the hotels. A taxi from JFK may run about $75. LGA: It is an inexpensive taxi ride to downtown Brooklyn, probably $40 or so. There is no train option (but see note about buses below.) EWR: Take the AirTrain from Newark Airport to Newark Penn Station, and then take a NJ Transit train to Penn Station in Manhattan. (Yes they are both called Penn Station!) From Penn Station, take the A, C or F subway line to Jay Street/MetroTech in Brooklyn. This stop is very close to the Marriott and about an 8 minute walk from the Hampton Inn. **FOR ALL THREE AIRPORTS, you may take an express bus from the airport to Port Authority Bus Station at 42nd Street in Manhattan. From there, take the A or C to Jay Street as above.
Travel Note
The Marriott and Hampton Inn are where we have rates locked in, however: there are many hotels in the downtown Brooklyn area, so feel free to shop around. Downtown is a tourist-friendly area with lots in walking distance. There are a few hotels further south into Brooklyn, in more residential or industrial areas, still safe but not as comfortable for tourists. I've scouted out a few so I can share recs if you want them. If you want to stay in Manhattan, just know it will take a while to get down to Bay Ridge for the wedding. (There is a Best Western in Bay Ridge ten blocks away from the wedding venue; however, although it has undergone a recent renovation, it had a reputation as a rent-by-the-hour type place, so I can't recommend it in good conscience. It might be fine now, I just can't vouch for it personally.) Air BnB is of course also an option and you may even be able to find someplace in walking distance to our venue.
