We met at a Hash House Harriers campout in May 2019. Heather was sitting with friends talking about a party when they recommended Shawn sit with them for the discussion. Shawn was trying 9 different types of chili. They hit it off over a mound of beans. Over the weekend they talked and flirted but by Sunday Shawn was interested and asked Heather on a date...in 3 weeks. Heather had never waited so long for a date but this salt n pepper man was gorgeous so it would probably be worth it. On the first date they went to a restaurant in DC and talked about Navy Football games and their favorite Netflix shows. Heather talked alot while Shawn was quiet the first few dates but now they never shut up. The rest is history.
Sometime in a day in August Shawn recommended they go on a nice date. Sure COVID was a thing but they could eat outside and enjoy crabs. Heather was having a nice day off when Shawn starting urging that they do something like paint a Bob Ross painting. Well thats odd, usually Shawn is never into arts and crafts. He rushed around the living room prepping for the painting. They picked a nice woods scene and painted away. Heather was so invested in her work she never looked at what Shawn was doing. Once Bob Ross was done they decided to reveal their pictures. The pictures were as good as people who paint Bob Ross paintings once in a blue moon would be. Overtop of Shawns painting in blood red paint he had written “Will you marry me?”. So inbetween a coffee table and couch Shawn got down on one knee and proposed. Heather still loves to tell everyone her proposal looks like a serial killer font!
