Our wedding will take place at Hacienda Santa Cruz, a 16th century colonial estate-turned-resort located 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Mérida. The hacienda features beautiful courtyards and gardens, a spa and wellness center, numerous pools and a cenoté, a phenomenal restaurant where much of the food is grown on-site, a chapel, a soccer field, and a park that introduces viewers to ancient Mayan ways of life. With our loved ones all over the world, we wanted to choose a venue for our wedding that would be as beautiful, convenient, and safe as possible. We wanted a place where we could all come together for a beautiful long weekend, in a region that would leave us all feeling inspired, revived in spirit, and grateful. Safety was our utmost concern, and beyond being an absolutely amazing place to visit, we are glad to report that Merida has consistently ranked as not only the safest part of Mexico (far outpacing Cancun) but also one of the safest cities in North America, more so than either Chicago or New York. The U.S. has never before issued a travel advisory for the area.
