How We Met

Fall 2014

Our story began in the fall of 2014 where we met at a friend's birthday party in San Francisco. Griffin was in town that weekend while living in Washington D.C. and Kylie had recently moved to the city after graduating college. While we didn't know it at the time, our friend was secretly trying to set us up! Knowing that Griffin was going back to the East Coast it did not immediately lead us anywhere until we hung out again in Lake Tahoe in June of 2015. After spending the weekend getting to know each other things escalated quickly and we began to hang out as much as possible. Our first official date was to a Giants baseball game which sparked Griffin's quest to convert Kylie from a Dodgers fan (sorry Dad!) Over the next five years, Griffin and Kylie have moved from San Francisco, down to Newport Beach, and then to Salt Lake City. We have traveled to 8 countries together, skied at 17 different ski resorts, and conqured endless amount of hikes in our time together. Life has not always been easy for us but together we have been able to overcome any obstacle life has thrown our way and we can’t wait to see where our love story goes to next.

The Proposal

12/18/2019

About six months after moving to Utah, Griffin and I were set to go on our annual Pre-Christmas date night, where we exchange gifts and have a fun night out just the two of us before all the craziness unfolds! This year we planned to go to our favorite place, Park City. It was a Wednesday night and I did not think for one second he would choose this night to ask me to marry him! He had booked a hotel for us and made dinner reservations but said he first wanted to grab a cocktail at sunset at the St. Regis in Deer Valley. We got to the top of the hotel and grabbed our drinks and Griffin insisted we take them outside to drink on the patio. If you know me then you know my first reaction was "NO WAY it's freezing out there!" But he assured me there were heaters outside- there were not. It was then I started getting suspicious when he told me to put my drink down and walked us into the snow. Deer Valley is absolutely stunning and I was distracted by its beauty, not noticing that Griffin was reaching into his pocket and getting down on one knee. I won't lie I don't fully remember what he was saying because my loud sobbing was drowning him out... OOPS! Griffin has a way with words though and I do remember in that moment how much I loved and adored him and after many, many years in the making I agreed to marry him! After a few seconds more of crying, Griffin told me to turn around and I saw my sister and Mitch flying around the corner. I could not have drawn up a more perfect proposal and shortly after we celebrated at the St. Regis with champagne and then more champagne! We then parted ways with our roomies and headed to dinner with more surprises and walked Main Street! The next day we woke up and skied Deer Valley on an epic Blue Bird day. It was absolutely perfect and I can't wait to start my life with Griffin!
