Grace and I began talking in the fall of 2018 and truly didn't begin dating till later that spring. Most of our time initially was spent with our friend group doing activities such as movie nights, just dance, and Pokemon Go. After several months of hanging out, I decided to test the waters to see if there was a chance of mutual feelings. I did what I believed to be a pretty conservative offer date wise: Dinner. Since we had just returned from winter break and only student athletes were back, I proposed that "I didn't have any dinner to eat" and was wondering if Grace would like to join me at Log Jam and hang out. What I believed could be fool proof was met with a surprising answer: "Thanks, but my parents gave me left overs and I have some winterm homework to finish." Well, I guess she didn't have any feelings that way, so things remained as just friends a little longer. Well, you could say I don't know when to quit, and as winter persisted, I found my opportunity to show off my worth through shoveling out Grace's Ford Focus and jumping its battery what seemed to be every other day. So as I established my handiness, I decided to try another avenue for a date, Pokemon Go. A large portion of the track team was involved in the politics of Pokemon Go scene and Grace was just getting into it, so I decided to see if she wanted me to give her a quick break down. Somehow, it worked, we spent our first time together. So thanks to friends, track, and Pokemon Go, our relationship has grown to be something truly special. -Cody
Cody and I had talked about getting engaged and spending the rest of our lives together, but for some reason I was not expecting the proposal one bit! It was Easter weekend, and we were going up to my Grandma Cheryl's house like we always do for Easter. My whole family usually goes up, along with my cousins, and aunt and uncle, so it felt like a normal Easter weekend. We always do an Easter egg hunt with my 2 siblings and our cousins. The past few years, Cody has been joining in on the hunts. Before we started the hunt, my grandpa told us that one of the eggs was golden and it had $100 in it. So out comes the competitive side of me since money is now involved. Ready, set, go! The 6 kids were off in an attempt to find as many Easter eggs, and more importantly find the golden egg. After about 10 minutes of sprinting around the house and continuously yelling if anyone had found the golden egg yet, we all sit down in a circle with our plastic bags full of eggs. I was still yelling around asking who found the golden egg and no one said they did. So, we were all counting our eggs, my head was just about buried in my bag trying to count them all. Cody yells, "Oh, I have the golden egg!" I proceed to yell at Cody, "WHAT! Why didn't you say anything?! What's in it! What's in it!" Cody opens the egg and gets down on one knee, and says something cute and meaningful but I was too in shock to even understand what was going on. After he popped the question, I think I stared at him for at least 15 seconds with my mouth open smiling the biggest smile. After I could finally understand what was going on, I said YES! We spent the rest of the day with family, and it was the happiest surprise I could have ever asked for. -Grace
