We met on the dating app, Hinge! It was only five messages back and forth before we decided to play Bananagrams at Old Planters Brewery in Beverly, MA. As soon as she saw Caleb, Grace had a feeling he was going to be special. We talked for three hours in between playing rounds of Bananagrams and closed down the brewery. We don’t remember everything we talked about but we connected on the value of community. And it’s one of the reasons we chose to get married at The Stevens Estate at Osgood Hill; a mansion built to host parties and gather in community. We both cancelled our other first dates for later that weekend and saw each other instead. We traveled to our now favorite spot, the Marblehead Lighthouse, and ate a classic pepperoni & pineapple pizza! Since then, we've bonded over our mutual love of the North Shore, cooking new recipes, watching TV shows (Survivor, Friends, Ted Lasso, and more), and taking pictures of our cat, Elphie.
Lo and behold, Caleb and Grace are headed back to the Marblehead Lighthouse for their three year anniversary, a trip that has become tradition. But this time, Caleb had something up his sleeve (more like his pocket actually)... When we arrived at the lighthouse, Caleb led Grace down by the water to look for a heart-shaped rock. This is one of Grace's favorite pastimes and has always been a bearer of good omens. They found the perfect one in mere minutes and enjoyed the sunset. Caleb led Grace up to the top of the hill by the lighthouse, and right when she was going to ask him to go sit on a bench, he dropped down on one knee! Grace, of course, said yes! We celebrated by grabbing our favorite pizza - pep & pine - and beers at Old Planters before calling all our family. And look, we KNOW pepperoni and pineapple is a controversial choice for favorite pizza, but trust us, it's great!
