For 3 years Brock and I [hi it's me, Grace] were simply great friends, and as rare as it is, that’s truly all we wanted to be. I moved to Nashville in 2017, and my impression of Brock at the time was mostly the roommate who played games in a grungy basement - not my type. Neither of us are sure when we met or became close outside of our friend group. However, my best guess is when I went to his house to chill with his roommates and ended up in Brock's room uninvited, where he proceeded to show me his film photography and music. Some time later we spent the afternoon at a pool - a day in which he made sure to reinstate our ~friend only~ contract, which I agreed to somewhat too hastily for his liking. Our friendship grew in meals together, movies, and morning coffees a few times a month, where we'd talk about life, God, family, purpose, and his new fashion finds. My favorite thing about those mornings were the challenging questions he would ask. Although our minds work very differently, there’s always been such an easy understanding between us that didn’t take much explanation. I remember wishing at certain times, especially after a good hang with him, that I could find that same feeling with someone who I would actually consider dating. Over time he became someone I knew I could always be myself with regardless of how I was feeling. I could be brutally honest with him and him with me. Nearing the end of 2019, we were closer than ever, and on New Years Eve 2020 he made up his mind to kiss me. Over the next few weeks we were both feeling something new but weren't ready to address it. At the start of quarantine in March, he asked me on a date and everything else fell into place. Quarantine turned out to be exactly what we needed to fall in love, stripping nearly everything else away and giving us each other. We are so grateful for that foundation of friendship and genuine love built all that time, finally bringing us to where we are now. MORE THAN FRIENDS.
