How We Met

03.29.19

We matched with each other on Tinder, and the next day I (Lauren) messaged Jeremy and we set a time to meet for drinks that evening. As our conversation flowed we both felt a connection and understanding of each other right away, and Jeremy asked if I was free to join him for a concert the following night. I felt no hesitation in saying yes, I knew I wanted to see him again. As we were beginning to part for the night, we discovered we were essentially neighbors and never knew it! We lived on the same street just a few apartments from one another. After our first date, or rather first weekend of dates, we both had to get back to work, school, and reality as Monday came around. We agreed to cook dinner together that evening, and as soon as Jeremy arrived at my apartment he said, "is it weird that I missed you already?". It's safe to say, the rest is history.

The Proposal

8.27.22

We had plans to spend a weekend with Jeremy's parents in Monterey, CA while they were housesitting for a close friend. We drove up on a Friday afternoon and started catching up with Cathy and Horace (Jeremy’s parents) once we arrived. As we were settling in for the evening, Cathy let me know her and Horace wouldn't be able to go around the town with Jeremy I tomorrow because Horace had a virtual family-reunion scheduled. She apologized and said, "we'll be sure to meet up for dinner", and arranged a time and restaurant for later that night. Jeremy and my Saturday went on with no suspicion from me. We started at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, then walked through historic Monterey and found California's first Theatre, and made a tourist-y stop at the wharf. Next we had planned to drive to a hike in Big Sur, one of our favorite places. We had hiked at Point Lobos before, so Jeremy decided we should try a different trail, one that leads to a bluff overlooking the ocean. As we moved along and got closer to the bluff location I noticed a group of people on a bench and thought to myself, "that looks like the back of my dads head". After a few more steps I quickly recognized all 4 backs-of-the-heads as my parents and Jeremy's parents - I was completely shocked. When we got to them I asked what they were doing here while going around hugging all of them, that's when I turned around to see Jeremy get down on one knee and ask me to spend the rest of our lives together. The happy tears were unstoppable, and I enthusiastically said, "yes!", as fast as I could. The rest of the evening was spent celebrating with our parents over a bottle of Champagne and pizza. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you in LBC soon!
