How It All Started

August 2016

Ryan and I were both from Texas and had professional careers that did not always include law school. However, as fate would have it two Texans ended up in Miami, FL at the same law school and in the same year. However, in a class of only 325, the whole first year of law school came and went without us ever meeting. Ryan had, a few times, shouted out "Gig em'" or "Go Cowboys" if he saw me on days I was repping a team shirt on campus (he does this to everyone). I had paid him no attention as he hung out with a crowd we called "the married group", and I assumed he was married or had children or something. Long story short and fast forward a year, the second year of law school was about to start. Ryan was volunteering and I had been asked to sit on a panel for incoming law students. I arrived on campus and went to speak to a group of friends where Mr. Fox happened to be sitting. Immediately, I noticed he was wearing boots. We then bonded over our love for this country's greatest state and dancing. We joked about plans to start a dance team and take salsa lessons, and then I left to my panel. After this, I decided I should add Ryan on Facebook, but he had beat me to it. Then I decided to message him, but again he had beat me to it. We exchanged messages and eventually, he asked if he could take me to dinner the following Monday. I obliged but when Monday rolled around, I almost bailed. Honestly, who likes first dates? My wonderful roommate at the time, Kelsey Gorey, came home and said to have a glass of wine and put on your big girl pants because you are going. Thank God she made me do it because it was the best date of my life. The next day, unknowingly, Ryan and I both called our moms and told them that we had met the one. From day one we knew we would one day be married. Both of our parents were astonished and worried we had lost our minds we later learned. SO long story not so short, we have been inseparable ever since and now we are getting married!!
