The health of our wedding guests is important to us. While we plan to comply with local mandates and follow CDC guidelines, vaccines will not be required; however, they are highly recommended to protect yourself and others.
The best time to visit New Orleans is from February to May when the weather is comfortably cool, with the average high being 71 degrees and the average low being 56 degrees, and the celebrations are in full swing.
Prepare to walk! New Orleans is a walk-able city, and Ethan & Dea's wedding guests will be encouraged to walk several blocks during their Second Line. Be sure to bring sensible shoes, or a change of shoes, for wedding activities that involve walking. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged, especially if you plan to visit Bourbon Street. If you'd like to visit other areas of the city, we'd suggest using the streetcars, pedicabs or Uber/Lyft.
Where to even begin? While seafood remains prevalent year-round given the Gulf, March is crawfish season! Shrimp and oysters are a must as well. You should order Cajun-spiced sausage, known as boudin, at least once (andouille sausage and cracklins can be great in this region, too). Be sure to make reservations as restaurants in the French Quarter tend to be busy.
New Orleans has some of the most lenient alcohol laws in the country. Don’t feel pressured to chug your drinks before walking to the next evening destination—take it in a go-cup (plastic cups are offered at bars because there’s only a rule against glass open containers outside, and its not a weird question to ask your server/bartender for one before you leave). There are also no restrictions on when restaurants or bars can serve, so some do stay open 24 hours a day.
While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.
