After a hellacious first quarter of school, the history department got a new special education teacher. I was waiting with great anticipation to finally have the support that my students needed. Walking down the hall, I saw Erin for the first time talking to one of our coworkers, clearly getting brought up to speed. I was taken by her right away and I knew that she would be looking to chat with me next to talk about our students. I tried to play it cool and confident. I strode up to her and said, "Hey, I think that you are looking for me." Little did I know, that it was me who had been looking for her.

It was the most Parisian day: the Louvre, macrons, wine, escargot, wine, scooter rides through the city, sunset in the park with friends and wine, and a stop at the Arc de Triumph to wait for night. After taking the El to the Tower, and making our way through the hucksters, the trees opened up to the most breath taking view of the Eiffel Tower. As we stopped to stare, a terrible trumpet player began playing our song. We danced in an empty street cheek to cheek before Deb pulled back to say, "Marry me. I didn't bring a ring to France but I don't need a ring to know I want to spend the rest of my life with you." The Tower lit up in its light show as I said "Yes!" A trip to a ring shop in Leon and we were officially fiances!
