Erin and Dan first met during Alumni Weekend in 2018 at a college tailgate. It was a fleeting moment -- Erin spotted Dan in the crowd, waved, and Dan smiled back before assuming it was meant for someone else and kept walking. It was nothing more than a passing interaction, but somehow, they both remembered it. Fast forward to 2020, in the thick of the pandemic. Erin had a hunch Dan lived nearby having occasionally crossed paths with him on their morning Red Line commutes. Mornings weren't her strong suit, so the sightings never turned into anything more. That summer, they finally reconnected and went on their first real date -- a picnic in a Somerville park. It was awkward and uncertain, the kind of date you only have during Covid, but neither of them wanted it to end. It felt like something was starting. Their second date was a little more ambitious. Dan took Erin to Wright's Tower in Medford to catch the sunset. Erin showed up in Birkenstocks to a hike that was longer than expected. When they finally made it to the top, Dan realized that he had only been there for a sunrise, and that that did not mean you can also see a sunset. The night ended with them sprinting out of the woods after spotting what looked like cult activity under a full moon. On their third date, they tried something simpler -- spending a day at the beach. A sudden wind storm cut the trip short. It didn't matter, by then they were both hooked. The early days were filled with missed tailgate waves and curveball-filled dates, and those days were exactly what they needed to be. They kept showing up for each other, and it all just clicked.
