Our Story

May 2017 We met for the first time at a company driver training. She was cute and Erik knew someone who was going to be one of her staff that summer so he went and introduced himselfnot really expecting to see her again. Erik ended up going to help pack up one of our Overnight Camp locations and connected with her again there. That Fall they kept in touch, going on one adventure after the next together. Over the next several months they would revisit the conversation of who they were to each other always ending in friends, as they felt they wanted different things in their future. Summer 2018 From that Fall until the following summer, Erik slowly recognized that perhaps he did want those same things as Heather. When he finally realized it, Heather, unknown to him, had just begun going on a couple of dates with someone else. One day Heather asked to go for a walk, saying she had something she wanted to tell him. Erik thought this would be a perfect time to also share his feelings but let Heather go first. She proceeded to tell Erik that she had gone on a couple of dates with someone and that she could see it going somewhere. Completely blindsided, Erik held in the news he was going to share until Heather, who could tell there was something weighing on him, asked him to share what he was thinking. Erik mulled things over and eventually shared everything that was on his mind, including that he loved her and wanted a future together with her! Then started the longest week of both their lives as Heather was faced with a decision. She chose Erik and so it began. February 2019 We had just finished up a company retreat outside of Granby, CO and had plans to go snowshoeing. Erik had arranged for Heather's Matron of Honor to be, Mindy, to bring Chaco up to join us. On a bridge over a stream, halfway through our trek around a beautiful snow-covered Monarch Lake, in a spot Heather said looked like Narnia, Erik got down on one knee and asked Heather to marry him.
