In 2018, Emeri moved to Dallas to start Physician Assistant (PA) school at UT Southwestern. She was focused and set on returning to San Antonio upon graduation. That same year, Will moved back to Dallas and started medical school at UT Southwestern. Emeri and Will were both the social chairs of their classes. They planned socials with students from other professions in their free time. Emeri was volunteering with the medical students one weekend when one of them said, "Hey. We should connect you with Will so we could get a social set up with the PA students. Ya'll are really cool." A couple days later, Will reached out to Emeri on Facebook and they got to work on setting up a social. The social was a huge hit and had a large turn out for a Friday night. Emeri was busy mingling with new faces, while Will was nervous about the date he was about to go on that night (with someone else, obviously). Will left the social without telling Emeri goodbye and she thought, "How rude." Fast forward two days later to Sunday afternoon, Will messaged Emeri on Facebook and said, "Do you want to grab coffee sometime?" Emeri laughed and replied, "I guess the date on Friday didn't work out?" Will proceeded to charm Emeri for several months until she finally agreed to begin a relationship with him, and fall madly in love with him. They continued their relationship through the rest of PA school and medical school and helped each other through the most challenging times. When Will graduated medical school in May 2022, they took a well deserved trip to Turks and Caicos. They returned from their trip ENGAGED and excited to start another year together! Will started residency a couple months later at UT Southwestern in Pediatrics. Emeri was working her big girl job as a real life PA, and Will hustled working long hours as a resident physician. In the midst of all the crazy, the couple talked about what their ideal wedding would look like. Unfortunately Will's schedule is not very forgiving, so they knew they needed to be smart in making these decisions. They decided they wanted to have a very intimate ceremony, somewhere overseas where they could take advantage of the time away and also have a honeymoon. In early 2024, Emeri's grandma passed away. This was extremely difficult for her, knowing her grandma wouldn't be here to help celebrate her marriage. The couple decided to get married at the courthouse on May 24, 2024, which would have been her grandma's 87th birthday. A day that would've been very hard to swallow became a joyful day of new beginnings. We like to think Emeri's grandma was watching from above that day. Now that we are legally married, we are able to have the wedding of our dreams overseas. We will be getting married in Santorini, Greece with our parents by our sides. We will proceed to have our honeymoon on a surrounding Greek Island, then head back to Dallas for some exciting events: Will's residency graduation, our wedding reception and the start of fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology!
