Our story starts pre-iPhone and picks up in 2024. About 20 years ago, we were both at Camp Tanuga. Whether it was the way Eliana chanted her cabin songs, tied her friendship bracelets, or sipped her bug juice, Brad had an immediate crush. But he kept that crush to himself, wondering how he could possibly ask such a cute girl to the dance. Eliana had no clue who he was and no interest in talking to boys whatsoever. After all, they had cooties. While our story took a long, long pause from there, it did not end. Over the next 20 years, we participated in similar community service organizations and social circles while also attending the University of Michigan at the same time. Despite frequently being in the same places, our paths somehow didn't cross. Brad went to Ft. Lauderdale after finishing his grad degree, Eliana stayed in Michigan to go to grad school, and that was seemingly that. But wait, not so fast. Brad moved home and immediately began tapping into his mom’s professional match-making enterprise — Jewish Mom’s Anonymous. When asking around, a cute (and importantly short) PA student was recommended by a physician friend. Brad knew exactly who she was, but was determined to play it cool for the first time in his life. He patiently waited to hear back about a connection, but to no avail. Luckily, this was the post-iPhone era and Hinge existed. Brad messaged Eliana, and very quickly (or 20 years later) a date was on the books! One walk through Birmingham led to moving in together within months. Our paths had finally crossed, and it was nothing short of Bashert. We became adventure buddies, best friends, partners and soulmates. Very slowly… then all at once. 💘
