Lexington is known as the Horse Capital of the World and Keeneland is at the center of the rich thoroughbred culture. You do not need tickets to go onto the grounds in May, so feel free to explore.
Lexington Distillery District
One of our favorite spots in Lexington! Plenty of bars featuring Ethereal Brewing and James E. Pepper Distillery as well some great local food spots. One of our first dates was some beer and pizza at Goodfellas (One Bite score 7.7 out of 10). A great way to spend a lunch or casual dinner.
Buffalo Trace Distillery
Is it really a visit to Kentucky without tasting the best bourbon in the land? Located in Frankfurt, KY, Buffalo Trace is the oldest continuously operating distillery in America. Due to its popularity, tours and tastings should be scheduled at least a month in advance.
Woodford Reserve Distillery
Located in Versailles, KY, Woodford Reserve is one of the most popular Bourbon Distilleries in Kentucky. Tours and tastings should be scheduled in advance as availability fills up quickly.
Castle & Key Distillery
Rebuilt and rebranded in 2012, a new-age distillery that's quickly become a favorite in the region. No such thing as visiting too many castles's in a weekend.

Four Roses Distillery
Another Kentucky bourbon staple, the legendary Four Roses Distillery has tours and tastings available including the new, state-of-the-art Bar 1888 that gives guests a chance to test ten distinct bourbon recipes.
Kentucky Horse Park
A great way to spend 2-3 hours. You can see retired Kentucky Derby winners, interact with the Police Horses, watch shows, and much more. This is where you can find the Man-o-War and Secretariat statues.
