Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please aim to arrive at least 15-20 minutes early, as we plan to start promptly at 2:00.

Question

Who do I contact with questions about...

Answer

Ru Freeman (ruvsfreeman@gmail.com), cell/WhatsApp: 610-505-5828 - Travel/hotel/flight/bus questions and concerns - Last-minute emergencies/cancellations Sarah Bradley Fink - cell 219-617-3124 - Rehearsal dinner questions Hasadri Freeman (hasadrifreeman@gmail.com), WhatsApp +44 7510 758890 - Specific attire questions

Question

What do I wear?

Answer

The attire will be cocktail at minimum all the way to formal/elegant! Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, but we kindly request that you avoid white and off-white colors. In Wisconsin, Labor Day weekend last year was in the 70's. The ceremony will be indoors, happy hour will be rooftop/outdoors, and reception indoors!

Question

Where do I fly in?

Answer

Dane County Regional (MSN) Airport is the closest airport, which will get you downtown via a $10-15 Uber. If renting from here, we recommend booking quickly! This airport has direct flights to/from locations like Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, Denver, Las Vegas, Newark, New York, Los Angeles (limited) and Detroit. Milwaukee/General Mitchell Airport (MKE) is a 1.5 hour drive. The Badger Bus goes directly between Mitchell Airport and Madison (and also from Minneapolis/St. Paul and Madison) https://badgerbus.com/schedule. Chicago airports are a 2.5 hour drive. The Van Galder Bus goes directly from O'Hare to downtown Madison: https://www.coachusa.com/airport-transportation/van-galder/bus-schedule.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by July 15, 2024 via our website RSVP page.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

When you RSVP, your plus ones will appear.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking at Blessed Sacrament should be ample. The church entrance is on Rowley, and the school entrance is on Hollister. Please use the Rowley Ave entrance. Parking is available in the lot off Rowley Ave. If you choose to drive to Monona Terrace, you will park in the attached parking garage off John Nolen Drive. Parking will be $5.00 for the night, and $10.00 for all cars left overnight. The happy hour will be on the Rooftop West Circle (top floor) and the reception will be on the main floor (Grand Terrace).

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes - August 30 is the first UW home football game of the season. It's also move-in weekend for the UW undergraduate campus, and is the weekend of Taste of Madison. Parking and reservations may be harder to come by so we recommend booking accommodations, cars, and flights ASAP!

Question

I've never been to a church wedding before, anything I should know?

Answer

We understand that our guests may be from varied backgrounds. Our families are too! Our ceremony will be presided over by Father Gary of St. Dennis in Madison, and will include elements of Duranya's Sri Lankan/Buddhist background. We chose this church because it was in close proximity to our home neighborhood. We will not be doing a traditional communion, but will incorporate some traditional liturgies/songs. You are welcome to sing/participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. You are welcome to wear what you plan to wear to the reception, or you can change in between!

Question

What do I do in the time between the ceremony and the reception?

Answer

We anticipate about 1.5-2 hours between the end of the ceremony and the reception. Feel free to head back to your hotel to freshen up, grab a drink nearby, or explore Madison! Monroe Street, Vilas Park, and Wingra Park & Livery are all within walking distance of Blessed Sacrament. Or, stop by the Capitol on your way to Monona Terrace to enjoy Taste of Madison, an annual festival on Capitol Square! The happy hour on the Terrace rooftop starts at 5PM.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Of course. Guests choose their food when they RSVP. Allergens are noted. Please let us know in the provided box about your allergies, as each option can be made allergen-friendly. We love celiacs here <3
