Men often wear a tailored kurta with pyjama at Indian weddings. Men should also wear sandals, chappals or jootis on their feet. For women a sari, a lehenga (top and skirt) or an anarkali (salwar) suit are great options. If you are unfamiliar with how to drape a sari, one of the latter options is best. Bright colors are encouraged and it's best to stay away from outfits that contain mostly dark colors, all white, or red. Most Indian clothing stores are happy to assist in choosing an appropriate outfit. In Los Angeles, Artesia has become known as Little India with 120 shops catered to Indian customers. Sona Chaandi Plaza and Loveleen Sari Palace are just a few of the many clothing stores in this neighborhood. If you do not have a store in your area, here are a few great website options. If you choose to order online be sure to allow an appropriate amount of time for shipping (3-7 weeks). www.rajwadi.com, www.utsavfashion.com, and www.manyavar.com have some great options.
For men, this could mean slacks or a lighter color and lighter fabric suit. For women, a knee length colorful sun dress or floral maxi dress. Avoid wearing outfits that contain mostly dark colors, all white, and red.
Semi-formal attire is an outfit that is dressier than what you'd wear to an office but not as dressy as a formal evening gown or tuxedo. Men should wear a conservative dark suit with a dress shirt to a semi-formal event. A vest that matches the suit is optional. In most cases, a tie should be worn. For women a cocktail dress is generally your best bet for most semi-formal weddings. You may also wear a dressy pantsuit with heels and sparkly jewelry.
We will not have designated transportation because the events are walking distance from each other (2 minutes drive) but the Westin offers a complimentary Hotel Shuttle that services up to 3 miles from the hotel. Both venues meet this criteria. Shuttle is on a first-come-first-serve-basis and begins at 7:00AM and last pick-up call is at 10:45PM. Guests also have the option of utilizing UBER, LYFT and taxis.
Both venues offer parking for those guests who wish to drive their car. Noor offers all day parking with validation which we are happy to cover and provide to our guests. Please ensure your RSVP includes that you will need a parking validation. First United Methodist provides parking for the ceremony at no cost.
