This is our all-time favorite spot in Nevada city. Be sure to get the marinated olive plate, try a wood fire pizza and sip on Derek's Favorite Purdon Porter or Alicia's favorite House Agua Fresca. They also have amazing baked goods! (Our cakes for the reception will be from Three Forks)
Deer Creek Tribute Trail
If you're up for a quick hike in town, visit our favorite local trail in Nevada City. Deer Creek pays tribute to the early contributions of native Nisenan and Chinese people to the land. A suspension bridge – The Nisenan Tribute Bridge or “Anqkula Seo” spans a beautiful section of Deer Creek, connecting to the Environs Trail on the other side.

Nevada City Chocolate Shoppe
Although Alicia loathes chocolates and ice cream, Derek makes a point each time they visit Nevada City to make a pit stop at the Nevada City Chocolate Shoppe for a scoop of Death by Chocolate ice cream. Check our their massive collection of chocolates, candies and straight Willy Wonka vibes.
Empire Mine State Historic Park
Empire Mine State Historic Park is the site of one of the oldest, deepest, and richest gold mines in California. In operation for more than 100 years, the mine extracted 5.8 million ounces of gold (the equivalent of $14.5 Billion dollars today) before it closed in 1956. The park contains many of the mine’s buildings, the owner’s home and restored gardens, as well as the entrance to 367 miles of abandoned and flooded mine shafts. We personally love the rose garden and the 3D model of the entire mine system at the Visitor's Center.
Visit Lake Tahoe
Only 1 - 1.5 Hours away from Nevada City. Practically our second home, we've shared countless memories at this magical place. Visit a couple of our favorite spots: (Tahoe House or Fire Sign Cafe in Tahoe City for Breakfast/Brunch, Check out Emerald Bay for some hiking and amazing views, Spend the day at Meeks Bay or try your luck at the Casinos in South Lake)
